One of the most common questions parents ask is: What is the difference between regular glasses and myopia control glasses? 👓

Regular glasses are primarily used to correct the child’s existing vision and help them see clearly. But when a child has myopia, especially when the prescription continues to increase, simply correcting the vision may not be the only consideration.

Myopia control glasses are designed with an additional purpose to help slow the progression of myopia in suitable children. This is particularly important because rapidly progressing myopia during childhood can lead to higher levels of myopia over time.

However, myopia control is not a one-size-fits-all approach. A child’s age, prescription, rate of progression and overall eye health should be evaluated before deciding on the appropriate management option.

If your child’s eye power seems to be increasing frequently, don’t just keep changing the glasses. Regular eye examinations and proper myopia management can help you understand what your child’s eyes actually need. 👁️✨
