Bhim Prasad prabhu travelled all the way from Kathmandu to be in the dham, and ended up with a serious injury to his ankle. The Mayapur Vaishnava Care Team has been taking him to hospital and making sure he gets whatever he needs along the way. Being far from home when something goes wrong is hard. That's exactly why we're here.

WHY IS DEVOTEE CARE IMPORTANT IN OUR SOCIETY?

We have the most complete philosophy, and Srila Prabhupada has given us the wonderful process of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Part of that process is taking care of the devotees. Actually, Krishna says that He has nothing else to do but to take care of His devotees. And since His devotees are always thinking about Him, He is also always thinking about His devotees. So actually, devotee care is one of the primary angas or aspects of Krishna consciousness.

However, I heard that there was a study by some outsiders where they said that of all the schools, ISKCON has the best philosophy, but when they talk about taking care of devotees, then ISKCON is way down the list. So serving the devotees and taking care of the devotees should be a part of our religion, and we should be doing that as daily work instead of feeling it is something that should be forced. Dear Mayapur Community devotees, Hare Krsna!

You may remember that there was this 7-year old bright Bengali boy from a Vaisnava family in Swarupganj who we were hoping to be able to get admission for at our Bhaktivedanta National School, a little more than one year ago. And by the very kind-hearted, joined efforts of several well-wishing devotees this boy then received sponsorship for studying in the 2nd Grade of the school and has now been promoted to Class 3.

When I went to the school office, just after Gaura Purnima, in order to make all arrangements for his continued studies, BV National School's Vice Principal, Ramanipati Prabhu, appealed and related to me that on that very day itself parents of altogether 38(!) registered or aspiring students had been desperately pleading and some of them literally been crying to please, please accept or keep their child in the school - despite the fact that they as parents were unable to afford to pay the school fees.

Some of these students are already students of BV National School but due to the development of the overall economic situation over the past year, parents feel themselves forced to remove their child as they can't bear the expenditures anymore.

The administrators of the school on the other hand are asking: "How can we kick out any student who has studied here for several years but due to financial crisis his or her family can presently not cope with the fees?"

Other families are hoping to enrol their child and thus providing it with a bright future by help of a solid and at the same time spiritually oriented education, but find themselves unable to afford it.

The school lost one very large-hearted sponsor last year who was located in UK and very sadly left his body in connection with Covid. Every year he would sponsor a whole bunch of students by his wonderful seva, and him being no more with us has definitely created quite a vacuum for those who were hoping to find financial support.

So here I am, trying to share this with all of you. Education - especially if it is combined with a spiritual outlook and value system - is what can enable a person to positively develop in life and move towards a bright and promising future.

If there is anyone amongst you who feels inspired to help in whatever way possible - or may have friends, or may know somebody who could consider this to be a valuable cause and thus come forward - kindly spread the news or contact me.

Below is an appeal from a differently abled young devotee who is here in Sridham Mayapur, He requires assistance for getting a wheel chair.

Madhusudan dasa lives in Mayapur where he has been doing seva and studying bhakti sastri.

He joined ISKCON in 2014 in South India. Moved by Srila Prabhupada's books and ISKCON preaching program, he decided to get initiated by H.H. Jayapataka Maharaj in 2017.

When he was 2 years old he got infected with polio and has, since then, been unable to walk. His only mobility option is his electric wheelchair which pretty soon will go out of commission.

Donations are requested to get him a new electric wheelchair so that he may continue his service.
