Aim:
The Department of Spirituality and Wellbeing will serve as a spiritual and psychological support in providing spiritual care to those in need and to respect and support each soul as they are, thereby enabling the provision of the highest form of spiritual love and care. Overall Objectives:
• To expose spirituality to the patients and their relatives through various psychological and spiritual
tools.
• To create opportunities for the patients to dialogue on what spiritual care looks and feel like.
• To streamline all spiritual care activities currently happening in the hospital under one umbrella, through the department of spirituality and wellbeing.
• To foster Spiritual empowerment by training all care givers on spiritual skills.
• To foster a balance between spiritual and professional behaviour to develop basic systems around giving the patient a spiritual experience.
• To bridge the gap between theory and practice of integrating spirituality in to healing
Subtle Objectives:
• To apply the powerful wisdom and practice of spirituality in a receptive healing environment
• To integrate care of the psychological aspects of the patients in recovery
• To formally observe, measure and test the recuperative capacity of spiritual and psychological care
• To reduce the recovery time and hence further health demands on the hospital and to increase the success rate
• To further increase the holistic nature of the hospital to include the ‘invisible’ technologies such as pure energy, love, kindness, understanding and care
• To inspire and provide an environment for staff to formally explore and experiment with subtle methodologies
• To utilize our most powerful resource in an active manner that supports both the patients and the relatives
Practical Objectives:
• Address the growing issues of mental health and depression.
• Support patients that are affected by stress and fatigue related to long-term illness.
• Investigate developing art therapy for children, long-term patients and the elderly.
• Provide counselling sessions to the patients.
• Provide group counselling sessions for the local community.
• Provide self-development courses/session like, positive thinking, stress management, introduction to Raja yoga and values in healthcare in integrating spirituality in healthcare.
