Summer is here… and with it comes that familiar craving for something cool, refreshing, and comforting 🍓❄️

As I was going through my old blog posts, I stumbled upon this little gem from April 2010… a time when my girls were so young—one of them not even three years old. Those were the days when I was constantly thinking of creative ways to keep them happy, hydrated, and well-nourished… especially during the hot summer months.

This simple Strawberry Ice Lolly recipe was one of those loving little experiments from my kitchen— a way to turn fruits into something fun, exciting, and irresistible for little hands.

What started as a mommy’s trick to sneak in goodness…
became a memory I cherish even today 💕

Sharing it again, because some recipes are timeless… and some moments deserve to be relived.

🍓 Fresh. Fruity. Homemade.
Just the way summer should taste.

Steaming hot, soft as clouds, and bursting with flavour…
Tonight’s dinner was pure comfort wrapped in delicate folds vegetarian momos (No onion no garlic) that were nothing short of addictive. And then came the star companion, a delectable nutty chutney that elevated every bite. Creamy, earthy, with a gentle heat and a hint of tang, it clung beautifully to each momo, adding depth, richness, and that oh-so-satisfying umami punch.
The contrast of soft dumplings with that bold, flavour-packed chutney… pure magic on the palate.
Some meals don’t just satisfy hunger… they create moments you want to relive.
And tonight, these momos did exactly that. 🥟✨

Soup for the soul. ❤️
Today’s lunch was a bowl of pure comfort, a restaurant-style Cream of Tomato Soup, made at home from a five-star chef’s recipe.
Slowly simmered tomatoes blended into a luxuriously rich, velvety soup, built on a delicate béchamel base, enriched with milk and finally finished with a generous swirl of fresh cream.
The result? Silky, creamy, and deeply satisfying.
What made this soup truly special was the warmth of the spices, fresh ginger, garlic, cracked pepper and a hint of cumin, each one adding depth, aroma and that soothing comfort your throat thanks you for on a day of cold or cough.
And the perfect finishing touch…
Brown bread croutons, tossed with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning, then crisped in the air fryer until beautifully crunchy.
No artificial colours.
Just the natural vibrant red of tomatoes, slow-cooked into a thick, creamy bowl of goodness.
Paired with those crunchy croutons, this wasn’t just soup…
It was a complete, comforting meal in a bowl.
Sometimes the simplest meals are the most satisfying. 🍅✨

Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat Katha: संकष्टी चतुर्थी ...
Sankashti Chaturthi in February 2026 (Phalgun month) is observed on February 5th as Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi, dedicated to Lord Ganesha for removing obstacles. Devotees fast from sunrise to moonrise, offering special prayers and sweets (modak) to Ganesha to seek blessings, prosperity, and the removal of hardships.

Key Stories and Significance:
Removal of Obstacles: The main theme centers on Lord Ganesha acting as "Vighnaharta" (remover of obstacles). The fast is believed to relieve devotees of all troubles, similar to how Ganesha conquered the demon king Gajamukhasura on this day.

The Legend of Ganesha and the Moon: It is told that after Ganesha consumed many sweets, he was riding his mouse when he fell, causing his stomach to burst. Shiva then placed a crescent moon on Ganesha's forehead to soothe him, establishing the connection between this day and moon worship.

The Story of Angarak: Angarak, the son of Earth (Prithvi), was a great devotee of Ganesha. On a Tuesday (which corresponds to "Angarika" Chaturthi), Ganesha blessed him, promising that whoever prays on this day will have their wishes fulfilled.

The Story of the Unintentional Fast: It is told that a person who unintentionally fasted on Sankashti Chaturthi (by falling sick) was blessed with passage to Ganesha’s abode, highlighting the immense merit gained from observing this day.

Divine Remedy: Legend also states that Lord Krishna was advised by Narada to observe this fast to overcome false accusations and remove obstacles from his life.

Devotees break the fast only after sighting the moon at night, usually around 9:50 PM in February 2026.

May the divine light of Karthika Deepam fill your home with happiness, peace, and prosperity. Wishing you and your family a blessed festival!

The Karthigai Deepam festival holds deep spiritual and mythological significance, primarily revolving around the triumph of light over darkness and the divine presence of Lord Shiva and Lord Muruga.

Mythological Significance
Lord Shiva's Fiery Form (Jyotirlinga): The most prominent legend relates to a dispute between Lord Brahma (the creator) and Lord Vishnu (the preserver) over who was supreme. To settle the argument, Lord Shiva appeared as an infinite, colossal pillar of fire (Jyotirlinga), challenging them to find its beginning or end. Neither could, proving Shiva's ultimate supremacy. The festival commemorates Shiva's manifestation as this endless light, particularly at the Arunachala Hill in Tiruvannamalai, where a massive beacon (Maha Deepam) is lit on the hilltop, visible for miles.

Birth of Lord Muruga: Another significant legend associates the festival with the birth of Lord Muruga (Kartikeya), the son of Shiva and Parvati. It is believed that he was born from six sparks from Lord Shiva's third eye and raised by six celestial maidens (Krittikas). On this day, Goddess Parvati united these six forms into one single, six-faced deity (Shanmuga).

Spiritual and Cultural Significance

Triumph of Knowledge over Ignorance: The core spiritual meaning is the dispelling of darkness and ignorance with the light of knowledge and truth. The oil lamp itself is symbolic: the wick represents the ego, the oil represents the innate tendencies that fuel the ego, and the flame represents the spiritual knowledge that can burn away the ego and lead to enlightenment.

Hope and Prosperity: Lighting countless earthen lamps around homes, streets, and temples is believed to bring new hope, peace, prosperity, and happiness into one's life, warding off evil forces.

Family Bonds: The festival also emphasizes family unity and relationships, with sisters sometimes praying for the well-being and success of their brothers, similar to the sentiment of Raksha Bandhan.

Divine Union: In some traditions, Karthigai Deepam also commemorates the day Goddess Parvati, after intense penance, united with Lord Shiva in the form of Ardhanareeswara, a deity that is half-male and half-female, symbolizing the absolute union of Shiva and Parvati.

In essence, Karthigai Deepam is a beacon of tradition, guiding devotees toward truth and dispelling the darkness of ego and worldly troubles, fostering communal harmony and spiritual awakening.
