ETI is continuing with its internship program in collaboration with Policy Centre and Gender Lab, Miranda House, University of Delhi.

Swapnali Mazumder, a second-year B.A. (Hons.) Political Science student at Miranda House, successfully completed a weeklong internship at ETI from 31st August to 4th September, 2026.

Throughout the internship, Swapnali engaged in embedded research and went for a fieldvisit, developing an understanding of how practical policy works. In addition, she actively contributed to creative content by drafting media posts and pitching ideas for the same. She also gained hands-on experience in how to draft concise and policy briefs. Through this experience, she gained a clear understanding of workplace dynamics, professional collaboration, and the daily office work. Her work demonstrated a strong blend of academic rigor in political science and real-world application and communication.

ETI welcomes Eshaal S, a second year student of Political Science at Miranda House. She is excited to receive this internship with ETI Services as it represents a meaning opportunity to apply her skills in a professional setting and also bring about change. She looks forward to contributing thoughtfully to the team’s ongoing work while continuing to develop both her technical and professional capabilities.

ETI welcomes Darshani Sengar, a 3rd Year student at Miranda House. A Feminist Aspirant, Darshini works for women empowerment, recognising the importance of economic inclusivity and their health concerns. She visited ETIs work on our website and social media handles - which moved her to be encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the organisation and learn from the same. Darshini hopes to see a brighter and inclusive future for women.

We’re delighted to welcome Anagha Ratheesh, who joined our team in ETI as a Research Assistant two months ago!

Anagha holds a Masters degree in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics and a Bachelors in the same from Miranda House, University of Delhi. Her experience primarily lies in qualitative research, with a special interest in groundwork and understanding the social, cultural, and economic dimensions of everyday social settings.

She says,

“It’s hard to believe that it’s already going to be two months at ETI! Coming from a research background, I was excited to see how ideas regarding public health and gender translate into real, on ground impact through policy research. This organisation has shown me exactly that. What I love most is kind of exposure you get in here and you are able to experience different tasks in a single setting. I have loved every bit of settling in, from figuring out our workflows to the little team conversations in between. And of course, no day at the office is complete without a hello from Zoya and Munni our pet dogs who somehow make even the busiest days feel a little lighter! Looking forward to many more months of learning, understanding and growing with the wonderful team !!!

The Supreme Court’s recent direction asking 19 States and UTs to declare cancer a notifiable disease is a welcome and necessary milestone for public health in India.

When a disease is notifiable, healthcare facilities report cases systematically. For a condition like cancer where time is everything, accurate tracking translates directly into better infrastructure, early screening, and timely intervention.

At ETI, this news aligns deeply with our mission. Cervical cancer remains one of the few preventable cancers, yet thousands of women in India are diagnosed at advanced stages simply due to late detection and lack of routine screening. Making cancer tracking mandatory strengthens the ecosystem.

When it comes to cancer, early detection isn't just an option, it's our strongest defense.

We are delighted to share that Dr. Virander Singh Chauhan, founder of ETI Foundation and former Director of the Delhi component of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), currently an Arturo Falaschi Emeritus Scientist at ICGEB, has published his latest article, “Virus Doesn’t Respect Borders; World Must Ensure Timely, Fair Access to Vaccines.” The article examines the critical need for global preparedness in the face of viral outbreaks, emphasizing that diseases like Ebola, Hantavirus, and Nipah are not confined by geographical boundaries.

He explains how the world needs to change the way it prepares for pandemics, as existing isolated national efforts are not enough. These viruses have shown the ability to transmit between humans and cross national boundaries, yet vaccines remain unavailable for several of them. Dr. Chauhan points to this gap as a matter of coordination and investment, not just science but vaccines for diseases that appear occasionally in lower-income regions often aren’t commercially viable to develop, even though their public health value is significant.

As suggested by Dr. Chauhan, this calls for shared-risk approaches, including public funding, advance purchase commitments and technology transfer. Addressing vaccine hesitancy through engagement and trust-building is treated as an essential part of preparedness, not a secondary concern. There is an urgent need for a united, proactive strategy and collaborative frameworks to manage and contain the spread of these invisible viruses.

As long as viruses can travel seamlessly across borders, health policies and actions must be borderless too.

Yesterday, team ETI joined the gathering at Jantar Mantar in peaceful solidarity with students across the country.

At ETI, student mental health has always been at the very heart of what we do. The recent dialogues surrounding student well-being, academic pressure, and the heartbreaking loss of young lives to suicides are ones we simply cannot ignore as issues but must address as a pressing crisis. The visuals from yesterday’s protest are a reminder, using force against students is not the right action, rather the state must provide a safe space where youth can peacefully raise their voices. We joined the march to stand by our youth and advocate for the support systems they deserve.

In solidarity with all students of the country for a better future.
