Not every “pimple” is actually a pimple. 🔍
A small, slow-growing lump under the skin could be a sebaceous (epidermoid) cyst — a very common condition that many people ignore until it becomes painful, inflamed, or infected.
Common signs of a sebaceous cyst include:
✔️ A soft or firm bump under the skin
✔️ Slow growth over time
✔️ Usually painless unless infected
✔️ A tiny black spot or opening in the centre
✔️ Commonly found on the face, neck, scalp, back, or torso
🚫 One important rule: DO NOT squeeze or pop it yourself.
Trying to remove a cyst at home can lead to infection, inflammation, scarring, or recurrence.
While many cysts are harmless, some may require medical evaluation or surgical removal — especially if they become painful, red, rapidly increase in size, or repeatedly get infected.
