I was honestly quite shocked when I heard this! 😳
Because as a nutritionist, I would never ever recommend focusing on just protein to any client, whether their goal is weight loss, better energy, or managing blood sugar.
Yes, protein is extremely important. It supports muscle maintenance, keeps you fuller for longer and plays an important role in a balanced diet. But carbohydrates and healthy fats have important roles too. ❤️
And if you have diabetes, that doesn’t mean your diet should become “protein-only” for weight loss. Your body still needs a well-balanced combination of nutrients, with the right quality, portions and overall calorie intake.
The goal shouldn’t be to completely eliminate one macronutrient. It should be to understand how much of each your body needs and how to balance them according to your individual health goals.
So please don’t blindly follow “high-protein = weight loss” advice. Your nutrition needs to be balanced, sustainable and personalised. ✨
Save this for the next time you hear that you should “just eat protein”! 💾
