On the sacred occasion of Sushruta Jayanti, the Institute of Applied Statistics, Kanpur pays heartfelt tribute to Maharshi Sushruta, the revered Father of Surgery and one of the greatest pioneers in the history of medical science.

One-Month National Online Certificate Programme on AI for AYUSH Healthcare & Research Successfully Inaugurated by the Joint R&D Center of AIIA Goa and IAS Kanpur

The One-Month National Online Certificate Programme on “Artificial Intelligence for AYUSH Healthcare & Research” was successfully inaugurated on 1 July 2026 through virtual mode. The programme is jointly organized by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa and the Institute of Applied Statistics (IAS), Kanpur, in collaboration with the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) and the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a Dhanwantari Stawan, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Shubham Pandey, who highlighted the increasing importance of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, research, and education. Prof. (Dr.) Seema Dwivedi presented an overview of the Joint Research & Development Center and its vision of promoting innovation, collaborative research, and evidence-based scientific advancement.

Addressing the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Mohan Joshi emphasized the immense potential of Artificial Intelligence in AYUSH education, clinical decision-making, healthcare delivery, and research. He noted that the month-long programme has been designed to cover AI fundamentals, statistical data visualization, text mining, and emerging digital technologies relevant to AYUSH professionals.

Extending greetings on National Doctors’ Day, Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Tomar highlighted the global relevance of Ayurveda and stressed the need to integrate traditional knowledge with modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to enhance innovation, research, and international outreach. As the Distinguished Guest, Dr. Allamprabhu Gudda encouraged participants to embrace AI as a supportive technology while preserving the ethics, authenticity, and foundational principles of Ayurveda. Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Vaidya Rabinarayan Acharya highlighted the transformative role of AI in accelerating research, strengthening scientific validation, promoting evidence-based practice, and fostering innovation across the AYUSH sector. He appreciated the Institute of Applied Statistics for consistently organizing need-based academic programmes in collaboration with national institutions.

In her Chief Guest address, Dr. Maneesha Upendra Kothekar urged participants to proactively learn and adopt emerging technologies to enhance their professional skills, research capabilities, and patient care while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and scientific integrity. She also congratulated AIIA Goa and the Institute of Applied Statistics for developing a comprehensive and high-quality curriculum for the month-long programme. Presiding over the session, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati emphasized that continuous capacity building and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential for preparing AYUSH professionals for the evolving digital healthcare ecosystem. He expressed confidence that the programme would inspire participants to develop innovative ideas and research initiatives for the AYUSH domain.

The ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Convener of the programme, Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean (Academic & Administration), AIIA Goa. The inaugural programme witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting nearly 450 faculty members, clinicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, and research scholars from across India. The enthusiastic participation reflected the growing interest in utilizing Artificial Intelligence to strengthen AYUSH education, healthcare delivery, scientific publishing, research methodology, and evidence generation. The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Pravin M. Bhat. The event was successfully planned and coordinated by Er. Amit Tiwari, ensuring the smooth conduct of the virtual inaugural ceremony. The session concluded with the Shanti Mantra.

Historic Collaboration to Advance Scientific Ayurveda, AIIA Goa and Institute Of Applied Statistics (IAS), Kanpur Sign Landmark MoU

In a significant step toward strengthening evidence-based Ayurveda and integrative healthcare research, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa and the Institute Of Applied Statistics (IAS), Kanpur have formally signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Joint Research and Development Center.

The MoU was officially signed at AIIA, Goa by Prof. (Vd.) P. K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA, New Delhi, and Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Tomar, Director AYUSH and Chairperson, Maharshi Charak Ayurveda R&D Scheme, Institute of Applied Statistics, Kanpur. This collaboration marks a major milestone in promoting scientific rigor, advanced analytics, and translational research within the domain of Ayurveda.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished academic and administrative leaders, including Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean (Academic & Administration), AIIA Goa; Prof. (Dr.) Mohan Joshi, Associate Dean and Head, Department of Samhita Siddhanta, AIIA Goa; Dr. Pravin M. Bhat, Associate Professor, Department of Shalakya Ta**ra, AIIA Goa; Dr. Shubham Pandey, Project Director, Maharshi Charak Ayurveda R&D Scheme; Er. Amit Tiwari, IT Head and Incharge, R&D Cell, Institute of Applied Statistics, Kanpur; and Mr. Sumit Tiwari, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (UP State), Institute of Applied Statistics, Kanpur.

The MoU signing ceremony was conducted on the occasion of World Health Day in the presence of Heads of Departments, faculty members, and postgraduate scholars of AIIA Goa, highlighting the academic and institutional commitment toward advancing healthcare research.

This strategic alliance is poised to redefine the landscape of Scientific Ayurveda by integrating classical Ayurvedic knowledge systems with modern biostatistics, data science, and artificial intelligence. The Joint Research and Development Center will serve as a hub for interdisciplinary research, fostering innovation and enhancing the quality and global acceptance of Ayurvedic research outputs.
