Understanding isn’t always visible through speech. A child may understand much more than they can express.

One simple way to get an idea of your child’s understanding is to observe and compare their responses with children of the same age in everyday situations—following instructions, identifying objects, responding to questions, understanding concepts, and communicating their needs.

How do you know if a child may have Autism? And what is the right age to identify it? 🧩💙

Parents often wonder whether their child’s speech delay, lack of eye contact, repetitive behaviours, or difficulty with social interaction are simply part of development—or signs that need further evaluation.

Autism can sometimes be identified as early as 18–24 months, and some signs may appear even earlier. However, every child develops differently, and there is no single behaviour that confirms autism.

We’re seeing a rise in what many call “virtual autism” — where excessive screen time starts affecting a child’s attention span, communication, and connection with the real world.

Constant exposure to mobile phones can:
• Shorten attention span
• Reduce eye contact and social interaction
• Delay speech and emotional development
• Make kids more dependent on screens for stimulation

When a child spends more time with a screen than with people, nature, or play… their world slowly becomes smaller.

They may be physically present, but mentally — they’re somewhere else.

Let’s not replace real experiences with virtual ones.
