We celebrated Breastfeeding Week at Artemis recently. It was an effort to make people understand its importance.
Few takeaways with respect to Psychiatry:
-It is important to consult your psychiatrist regarding the psychiatric medications during breastfeeding.
-There are few medicines which are safe to give and few which need caution.
-Some medicines may pass through the milk and hence need to be managed.
-Do not stop the medications on your own, always discuss with your treating doctor.
