Mythology and LegendsBirth of Mars: According to the Matsya Purana, Mars was born at this exact spot from a drop of sweat that fell from Lord Shiva’s forehead during his fierce battle with the demon Andhakasura.

ऋणमुक्तेश्वर महादेव मंदिर एक प्राचीन शिव मंदिर है, जो मुख्य रूप से मध्य प्रदेश के उज्जैन (क्षिप्रा नदी के तट पर) और ओंकारेश्वर (नर्दा-कावेरी संगम के पास) में स्थित है। यह मान्यता है कि यहाँ सच्चे मन से पूजा करने से इंसानों को सभी प्रकार के कर्ज़ और आर्थिक परेशानियों से छुटकारा मिलता है।

धार्मिक महत्व और मान्यताएँ

राजा हरिश्चंद्र की कथा: पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, सतयुग में राजा हरिश्चंद्र ने इसी स्थान पर वट वृक्ष के नीचे तपस्या करके अपने भारी ऋण से मुक्ति पाई थी।

पीली पूजा (विशेष अनुष्ठान): कर्ज मुक्ति के लिए यहाँ मंगलवार और शनिवार को विशेष ‘पीली पूजा’ की जाती है। इसमें पीले वस्त्र में चने की दाल, हल्दी की गाँठ, पीला फूल और थोड़ा गुड़ बांधकर शिवलिंग पर चढ़ाया जाता है।

मंत्र जाप: इस मंदिर में या घर पर जल चढ़ाते समय “ॐ ऋणमुक्तेश्वराय नमः” मंत्र का 108 बार जाप करना बहुत शुभ माना जाता है।
