RMD pain and palliative care Trust, is a nonprofit organization located in T. Nagar, Chennai headed by Dr.Republica Sridhar a palliative and Geriatric care specialist. The trust has provided care for over 15 years in caring for the terminally ill. RMD is an integrated Palliative & Hospice Care Centre, with services covering healthcare delivery, Awareness creation and Training & Skill Development.
The Trust has evolved its Palliative care services model to encompass different settings – Out Patient, In Patient, Home Visits and Community Based Care. The beneficiaries of the care are terminally ill & Geriatric patients from the economically weaker sections of the society. RMD Trust has worked extensively in the rural areas and has partnered the Government of Tamil Nadu to implement a pilot project to provide Community Based Palliative care in one district. RMD has also collaborated with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to start a community college for training healthcare assistants. RMD Trust has so far provided Palliative & Hospice care for over 19,000 patients and provided training in Palliative care over 500 candidates.
