Vitamin A is essential for vision, immunity, skin health, growth, and development.

But one thing many people don’t realize is:
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin — which means excess amounts can get stored in the body.

Most people do NOT develop toxicity from normal food intake.

Problems more commonly happen when supplements unknowingly overlap:
• multivitamins
• cod liver oil
• skin supplements
• immunity products
• retinoid medications

A few important things to know:
• Excess preformed Vitamin A during pregnancy may affect fetal development
• Certain acne medications are Vitamin A derivatives
• Combining excess Vitamin A/retinoids with antibiotics like doxycycline may increase the risk of raised intracranial pressure in some individuals

This post is NOT to create fear about Vitamin A.

It is to encourage:
✔ proper dosage
✔ proper indication
✔ informed supplementation

Balance matters more than blindly taking “more vitamins.”

We live in a time where supplements have become part of everyday life.

Multivitamins, vitamin D, B12, calcium, iron, magnesium…

Many people take them daily without truly understanding:

- what these substances actually do inside the body
- how they are absorbed
- where they get stored
- who genuinely needs supplementation
- when excess can become harmful
- and why the same supplement may affect different people differently

So I’m starting a new educational series:

“What’s inside your multivitamin?”

A simplified, clinically grounded series exploring:

- fat-soluble & water-soluble vitamins
- absorption and metabolism
- deficiency and toxicity
- supplement misuse
- common myths
- and the science behind supplementation

Not to create fear around supplements —
but to create better understanding.

Because the body is far more complex than wellness marketing makes it appear.

Just because it is called a “supplement” does not mean it is harmless.

One of the most common mistakes I see in practice is people taking calcium supplements together with thyroid medication.
Calcium can interfere with the absorption of thyroid tablets, which may lead to improper thyroid control and fluctuating thyroid levels. Over time, this may even result in repeated dosage increases unnecessarily.

If you are on thyroid medication, calcium supplements should generally be taken at least 4 hours apart — and only under proper medical guidance.

Incorrect use of supplements, self-medication, or blindly following online advice can sometimes create long-term health issues instead of improving health.

Even supplements should be taken only after consulting a registered medical practitioner who understands your condition, medications, and body requirements.

Take supplements wisely.
Your health deserves professional guidance.

Heavy menstrual bleeding is not something that should be silently tolerated or repeatedly ignored.

In many patients, treatment focuses only on controlling bleeding or correcting hormone levels. But sometimes, the imbalance may be much deeper.

Stress, sleep disturbance, thyroid dysfunction, metabolism, digestion, inflammation, and overall body balance can all influence menstrual health.

In my clinical approach, I believe in evaluating the whole health of the patient rather than focusing on hormones alone. Proper examination, understanding the root cause, and individualized treatment are extremely important in managing heavy menstrual bleeding.

If you are struggling with:
• excessive bleeding
• prolonged periods
• large clots
• tiredness or weakness during periods
• irregular cycles

please read through this post. 🌿

Are you suffering from bloating, acidity, sour belching, heaviness after food, constipation, loss of appetite, or irregular bowel habits?

These symptoms are often ignored or treated temporarily with over-the-counter medicines.
But gut issues are not always “just stomach problems.”

Your gut health is closely connected to:
• digestion
• immunity
• metabolism
• hormones
• mental well-being
• overall body balance

In Ayurveda, digestion and “Agni” (digestive fire) are considered the foundation of health.
When digestion becomes disturbed, the body starts showing warning signs through the gut.

Proper examination, diagnosis, and individualized treatment are essential for effective management of gut disorders. Ayurveda offers a wide range of medicines and lifestyle-based approaches that are selected only after understanding the patient, their symptoms, and the root cause of imbalance.

Do not ignore what your gut may be trying to tell you.

The most common question I hear as an Ayurvedic doctor is:

“Doctor, is there any oil that really helps in hair growth?” 🌿

Hair oil can definitely help in maintaining scalp health, reducing dryness, breakage, and supporting nourishment.
But hair growth is much deeper than just the oil we apply externally.

In Ayurveda, Kesha (hair) is considered the Mala of Asthidhatu — meaning hair reflects the internal health of the body, especially nourishment and tissue balance.

Hair fall may also be associated with:
• hormonal imbalance
• stress
• thyroid disorders
• anemia
• nutritional deficiencies
• sleep and lifestyle disturbances

This is why the same oil may not suit everyone.

Ayurveda follows an individualized approach.
Different prakriti (body constitutions) require different types of care and oils based on the person’s scalp condition, body type, and underlying imbalance.

Healthy hair is often a reflection of overall health. ✨

Instead of only asking,
“What oil should I apply?”
we should also ask,
“What is my body trying to tell me?”
