The Department of Pharmacology, Vels Medical College & Hospital successfully conducted a two-day Workshop on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) on 08 & 09 June 2026.

The workshop brought together 36 postgraduate students and faculty members to strengthen their understanding of ethical principles, regulatory requirements, and best practices in clinical research.

The programme featured insightful sessions by VMCH faculty and invited experts covering stakeholder roles in clinical trials, research protocol and study design, biostatistics, and data management. Participants actively engaged in discussions, assessments, and feedback sessions designed to enhance their research competencies.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function, certificate distribution, and appreciation of the speakers for their valuable contributions. The initiative reflects VMCH’s continued commitment to promoting ethical, scientific, and high-quality clinical research.

The Department of Psychiatry, Vels Medical College & Hospital, in collaboration with the Chennai De-Addiction Centre, successfully conducted a Drug Awareness Programme for the MBBS students of the Purple and Grey batches.

The session focused on creating awareness about substance abuse, its harmful effects, the importance of early identification, and available treatment approaches. Through interactive discussions, case-based learning, and an engaging question-and-answer session, students gained valuable insights into addiction and the critical role healthcare professionals play in prevention, intervention, and patient care.

The programme was well received by the students and served as an important step towards fostering informed, responsible, and compassionate future medical practitioners.
