An awareness camp on heat stress and related illness along with ORS distribution was conducted on 13/5/2026 at Karamveer Singh Contractor Camp of Gokul open cast mines under Umrer Area at 1:30 pm during shift change.
During the session, around 50+ contract workers were educated by Dr. Manan Thacker about identifying early signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses, their stages (heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke), and appropriate management.
Preventive measures were also discussed in detail.
ORS was also distributed to workers, and its importance in preventing dehydration was explained.
Demonstration on preparation of homemade ORS was also given.
The objective of this initiative was to enhance awareness and ensure early recognition and timely management of heat-related conditions.
The program was conducted under the dynamic leadership of our CMD, WCL – Shri Hemant Sharad Pande and AGM, Umrer Area – Shri Avinash Prasad with the guidance of CMS I/C – Dr. Shashi Shankar
