An awareness camp on heat stress and related illness along with ORS distribution was conducted on 13/5/2026 at Karamveer Singh Contractor Camp of Gokul open cast mines under Umrer Area at 1:30 pm during shift change.

During the session, around 50+ contract workers were educated by Dr. Manan Thacker about identifying early signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses, their stages (heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke), and appropriate management.

Preventive measures were also discussed in detail.

ORS was also distributed to workers, and its importance in preventing dehydration was explained.

Demonstration on preparation of homemade ORS was also given.

The objective of this initiative was to enhance awareness and ensure early recognition and timely management of heat-related conditions.

The program was conducted under the dynamic leadership of our CMD, WCL – Shri Hemant Sharad Pande and AGM, Umrer Area – Shri Avinash Prasad with the guidance of CMS I/C – Dr. Shashi Shankar

Team Area Hospital Umrer will continue to actively organize such awareness initiatives for the welfare and well-being of employees.

INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY
Today, On 12th May , International Nurses Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride in the gracious presence of Honorable AGM DR. AVINASH PRASAD Sir and Ujjwala Mahila Mandal Adhyaksha Smt. REKHA PRASAD Madam. The program began with lamp lighting and tribute to Florence Nightingale.
The celebration highlighted the dedication, compassion, and selfless service of the nursing staff towards patient care.
All nursing staff were honored with a token of appreciation by AGM , DR. AVINASH PRASAD Sir, Ujjwala Mahila Mandal Adhyaksha, Smt. REKHA PRASAD Madam and AMO DR. SMITA JAMBULKAR madam. They also motivated them to continue serving humanity with excellence and empathy.
The event included cultural performances, inspiring speeches, beautiful dance performance by Laya , song and a nursing staff felicitation ceremony, making the celebration memorable and joyful for everyone .

DR. ANUPAMA KALE anchored the program beautifully.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, given by DR. MANAN THACKER expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the celebration a grand success.

An awareness program was organized on the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day on 9th May 2026.

The theme for this year was “Action Saves Lives”.

The program was organized by Area Hospital, WCL Umrer.

A brief and informative talk on Hand hygeine and its importance was delivered by Mr. Sachin Deshmukh Sanitory Inspector.
Matron Sister Leela demonstrated the steps of hand washing and its importance in hospital.
The session concluded with a short discussion by Dr. Jambhulkar maam.

An awareness program was organized on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28th April 2026.

The theme for this year was “Let’s Ensure a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment.”

The program was organized by Area Hospital, WCL Umrer.

The program commenced with Vande Mataram followed by Corporate Song of WCL, followed by message from the Respected Chairman sir, Coal India Limited, which inspired everyone to prioritize safety and health at the workplace.

This was followed by a Safety and Health Pledge taken by all participants.

A brief and informative talk on healthy psychosocial working environment at the workplace was delivered by Dr. Manan and Dr. Niharika. The session concluded with a short discussion by Dr. Jambhulkar maam (AMO).
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pooja followed by the National Anthem.
