📱 Is Your Teenager Addicted to the Phone?

Here I shared a case of a teenager whose excessive phone use was affecting studies, sleep, mood and family relationships.

The solution was not simply taking the phone away. 🚫📱

Parents worked on the habits behind the screen use. ❤️

Here’s what you can do:

⏰ Set clear and consistent screen-time boundaries.

🌙 Keep phones away during bedtime.

🍽️ Create phone-free family time.

🏃 Encourage sports, hobbies and outdoor activities.

🗣️ Talk to your teenager without constant criticism.

👀 Understand what they are doing online, not only how long they are online.

👨‍👩‍👧 Model healthy phone habits yourself.

❤️ Most importantly, build connection before correction.

Remember, the goal is not to completely remove the phone.

🎯 The goal is to help your teenager develop healthy digital habits and self-control.

If your teenager is struggling with excessive phone use, poor concentration, sleep issues or constant conflicts around the phone, you don’t have to handle it alone.

10 SIGNS YOU MAY BE AN ANXIOUS MOM 🤍

1. You constantly worry about your child’s safety.
2. You imagine the worst-case scenario.
3. You overthink your parenting decisions.
4. You feel guilty when you take time for yourself.
5. You compare your child with others.
6. You struggle to trust your child independently.
7. Small mistakes feel like big problems.
8. You constantly check if your child is okay.
9. You feel restless when things don’t go as planned.
10. You worry even when everything is going well.

Remember, caring for your child is healthy. Constant fear and overthinking need attention too. 🤍

I’m feeling truly grateful for such a beautiful review from a psychology student who attended my parenting workshop. ❤️

As a counselling psychologist and parenting coach, moments like these remind me why I love conducting workshops and sharing practical knowledge.

When a psychology student tells you that the session helped them understand parenting and child behaviour from a deeper perspective, it feels incredibly meaningful. 🌱

My goal has always been simple:
To help students, parents and professionals understand children with more empathy, awareness and psychological insight.

Every question, every interaction and every feedback motivates me to keep learning and sharing. 🤍

Thank you for trusting my work and taking the time to share your experience. Your words mean a lot to me. 🙏

If you are a psychology student interested in learning more about child psychology, parenting and practical counselling skills, I would love to connect with you.

Why We Should Never Hit Our Children

🧠 Mental Health Is an Essential Part of Health

A healthy child is not just physically active — they also need to feel safe, heard, understood, and emotionally supported.❤️

As parents, our role goes beyond academics, discipline, and physical well-being. Creating an environment where children can openly express their emotions can make a powerful difference in their confidence, relationships, and overall development.

🌱 Healthy Mind. Healthy Emotions. Healthy Childhood.

Let’s make mental health education an essential part of parenting and growing up.

How do we raise responsible children?
A few months ago, a mother came to me with a concern.
Her 10-year-old son depended on her for almost everything.
She packed his school bag.
She kept his clothes ready.
She reminded him about homework.
She even cleaned up his room.
Her concern was, “He is becoming careless. How will he manage things on his own when he grows up?”
My first question to her was:
“Are we giving him enough opportunities to be responsible?”
Responsibility is not something children suddenly develop when they turn 18.
It is a skill they practise from childhood.
Research supports this.
Children who participate in age-appropriate household responsibilities develop practical life skills, confidence and a stronger sense of responsibility. Experts also recommend giving children clear tasks, breaking bigger tasks into smaller steps and allowing them to solve small problems independently.
So, what can parents do?
1️⃣ Give age-appropriate responsibilities
A 4-year-old can put toys away.
A 7-year-old can arrange their school bag.
A 10-year-old can help with simple household tasks.
A teenager can manage personal belongings, time and basic money decisions.
2️⃣ Stop doing everything for your child
Helping is good.
Doing everything for them is different.
Before stepping in, ask:
“Can you try it yourself first?”
3️⃣ Let them experience natural consequences
Forgot your notebook?
Help your child think about how to remember it tomorrow.
Don’t immediately solve every problem.
4️⃣ Give choices
“Would you like to pack your bag before dinner or after dinner?”
Small choices help children practise decision-making.
5️⃣ Praise responsibility, not perfection
Say:
“I noticed you remembered your work without my reminder.”
This teaches children to value their own effort.
6️⃣ Make responsibility part of family life
Children should understand:
“We all contribute because we are a family.”
Responsibility should not feel like punishment.
It should become part of everyday life.
Remember:
Your goal is not to raise a child who needs you for everything.
Your goal is to raise a child who knows when to ask for help, knows how to try independently and takes responsibility for their choices. ❤️

🌸 Do our children really need expensive gifts?

Or do they need something far more valuable from us?

❤️ Our time.

Children remember:
👩‍👧 The 10 minutes you spent listening to their stories.
🎨 The evening you played with them.
🍽️ The meal where you talked without checking your phone.
🤗 The hug after a difficult day.
🌙 The bedtime conversation where they felt heard.

You don't need to give your child everything you never had.

Give them something they will carry for life:
Your presence.
Your attention.
Your emotional availability.

🎁 Gifts make children happy for a moment.
❤️ Your time helps them feel loved, secure and connected.

Try this today:
📵 Put your phone away for 20 minutes.
👂 Listen without interrupting.
👀 Look into your child's eyes.
💬 Ask, “How was your day? Tell me everything.”

Your child may forget the toy you bought last year.

They will remember how you made them feel. ❤️

A 14-year-old girl came to me with behavioural concerns.

Her parents described her as:
😡 Angry
🙅‍♀️ Argumentative
🤐 Secretive
💔 Emotionally distant

But when we looked deeper, she was experiencing constant pressure, strict rules, criticism and very little emotional space.

Her parents thought, “अगर हम सख्ती करेंगे, तो बच्ची सही रास्ते पर रहेगी।”

But excessive control can sometimes create the opposite effect. ⚠️

A teenager who feels constantly controlled may start:

🤐 Hiding things
😔 Lying to avoid punishment
😡 Becoming aggressive
🚪 Withdrawing emotionally
🗣️ Stopping communication

Teenagers need boundaries, but they also need trust, respect and emotional safety. ❤️

3 things parents can do: 👇

1️⃣ Listen before you lecture. 👂❤️
Ask, “What happened?” instead of immediately saying, “You are wrong.”

2️⃣ Give age-appropriate choices. 🌱
Let her have a voice while keeping clear family boundaries.

3️⃣ Correct behaviour, not identity. 🫂
Say, “I don't agree with your behaviour,” instead of “You are becoming a bad girl.”

Your daughter doesn't need more control.

She needs a relationship where she feels safe enough to talk to you. ❤️
