Lady Ripple loves using their platform to ripple forward artists who are using ecological themes and materials to unfold their stories.

Recently opened at the Serre Torrigiani in Firenze, artist Mateo Revillo has his solo installation on display this week entitled Umor. Set between the lush plants of the greenhouse, his paintings, fountains, and sculptures are intimate reflections where art and nature come alive, using natural beeswax in many of his works. The curation of his works fosters curiosity for the natural world, and his colours and forms blend seamlessly into the verdant architecture.

Under the curation and residency provided by the support of the always inspiring , Mateo creates an installation where the human is witness to something real, organic and living and where all participants become part of nature’s journey.

This show will move to the Spazio Sassetti Gallery to view throughout June.

What a buzz last night at The Hoxton Hotel in Florence as we opened our hives to the public and spread so many positive and wondrous ripples.

Afterwards we gathered at the opening of the Hoxton courtyard for cocktails, our pop-up featuring the new collection, a groovin’ dj set, barbecue and unveiling of the Lady Ripple cocktail made with . Enormous thanks to the Hoxton for hosting and to all of our Ripplers who showed up to lend support!

Everyone walked away with the curiosity and wonder of the bees and of being at a very hip event last night for our Florence community. We rippled together!

What happens on a hive tour?

A healthy hive hums at around 250Hz — almost exactly middle C on a piano. Beekeepers can tell the mood of a colony just by listening to the pitch of the hum.

You hear it before you see it. A low, steady hum — 60,000 wings beating in harmony.

Then you see the frame lifted — golden comb, bees moving across it with complete purpose, each one knowing exactly what it is there to do. The Queen is spot ted.

No chaos. No aggression. Just the most organised community on earth, going about its extraordinary work.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need to be brave. You just need to be curious.

Cities across Europe are quietly becoming sanctuaries for the creatures that sustain all life on earth with urban beehives.

Paris has had beehives on the roof of the Opéra Garnier since 1982. Cities across the world followed — London, New York, Tokyo. In 2025, Firenze joined the list.

There are beehives on the roof of the Hoxton Hotel in Florence.

And on Thursday 21 May — the day after World Bee Day — we’re opening them up.

Join Lady Ripple for rooftop hive tours from 16:30 onwards, followed by an evening of Lady Ripple jewelry, bee-inspired bites, honey cocktails, and music from 7pm. Hosted by the Hoxton.
