Did you know: Name popularity is actually *dropping* over time as more families choose names outside of the Top 100(0!)

In fact… if you were one of 4 Ashley’s or Matt’s in your class, you don’t have to worry that your child will suffer the same fate if you choose a name in the Top 10!

Here’s the thing: naming trends have shifted so much that even the most popular names today are given to a tiny fraction of babies.

We’re nowhere near the days of every other kid being named John, Michael, Mary, or Jennifer.

So to every parent who loves a name but is scared it’s “too popular” …this one’s for you. 💛

Before you cross that “popular” name off your list, swipe through…The data might just change your mind.

🔮 2025 Baby Name Predictions… Which names do you think will rise to the top this year?

The SSA Data will be published soon, so I’m making my biggest, boldest baby name popularity predictions now!

💖For girls, I think the incredibly chic “Romy” will be one of the fastest-rising of the year…

💙For boys, I can see Conrad gaining popularity.

💚I’m also anticipating big things from the gender neutral names Miller, Campbell, and Palmer

Beyond some of the individual rising names, I’ve got my eye on some subtle name trends that might pick up speed over the next few years…

After analyzing decades of naming data and cultural shifts, here are the trends I’m watching closely in 2025:

✦ “Ar” names are quietly taking over (think Archer, Arabella, Arlo)
✦ The long “I” sound is having its moment (Iris, Isaiah, Ivy)
✦ Clunky vintage names are making an unexpected comeback (Agatha, Buster, Mildred)
✦ Mid-century honor names are replacing turn-of-the-century darlings
✦ Catholic saint names are surging alongside a Gen Z spiritual revival
✦ Idiomatic “Modern Puritan” combinations are the newest frontier

“It’s so hard to name a boy!” 😫🩵

Luckily, we’re due for a quiet revival of 80s and 90s boy names…

🧐 Why is this the best news?!

Because these decades popularized boy names that feel strong, masculine, and modern… Qualities that some parents struggle to find today.

I always hear clients say, “there are no good boy names!” And, “it’s easier to name a girl than a boy!”

I recommend checking out some of these popular boy names from the 80s & 90s… they sound familiar, but hardly “overdone” for this new generation of babies!

If I were stuck on boy names right now, I’d consider 80s classics like:

🩵Jordan, Joshua, Brendan, Cody, Derek, Jeremy, Heath, and Warner

Some of these are more unique than others (I’m looking at you, Brendan, Heath, & Warner!) but, again, they all feel recognizable* (aka “NOT WEIRD” by name bullies standards 😂)

Should you use a nickname as a first name?
Should you choose an elongated name with great nickname potential?

Decisions, decisions…

I was really interested to hear my cousin, Annie, explain why she legally changed her name from Ann a few years ago.

Would love to hear how you approached this with your babies!

Wishing you all the best &

“Does this name go with our other kids’ names?”

If you’ve ever wondered this, you’re not alone. This is the question I get most often from second and third-time parents.

My answer: think of it like a gallery wall. 🖼️🧑‍🎨

You’re not matching colors, frames, photos, or artwork; you’re curating a collection that tells a story.

Swipe to see the two kinds of sibsets, and figure out which one you’re building…

And let me know below… is your sibset more Cohesive, or more Synonymous?

Pisces SZN ♓️

Pisces season is equal parts crying in the bathtub and vibe-coding an empire.

As the oldest sign of the zodiac, (…can you say “Oldest Daughter Energy?!”) Pisces has a spiritual maturity that is ethereal and free flowing.

They also tend to be the “keepers of the family lore…” always surprising you with their depth and breadth of knowledge on all things family matters. Pisces serves their tea piping hot 😈☕️

Pisces have the innate power to daydream things into reality. They need to retreat from society for periods of time to quiet the world around them & tap into their intuition. They return with the energy and fortitude to manifest their dreams.

They are among the more intellectual signs of the zodiac, often reaching great success personally and professionally when they give themselves permission to follow their curiosity and creative urges.

When it comes to naming a Pisces Baby, you can go in 1 of 2 directions:

1) capture their wispy, emotional essence through a more whimsical name

2) bolster their tender hearts with a timeless, strong name that scaffolds them and doesn’t reveal their empathy too quickly

🧐🐟Are you a Pisces? Does your name capture your essence, or serve as protective scaffolding?

If you named a Pisces child, what name did you choose? 🤓🫠

Wishing you a happy Lunar Eclipse, a Happy Pisces Season, and Happy Baby Naming! 😘🌊
