💜YOU MAY TAKE A VACATION, BUT YOUR DISEASE DOES NOT!💜
Just returned from the most amazing honeymoon, and I have been looking forward to sharing this with you! At first I was annoyed by it (still kind of am, haha) but then I realized it’d make great content for this blog.🤣 Here’s what happened:
Before the honeymoon, we left our respective family cell phone plans and made our own. Since I switched carriers, I apparently had to set up a new voicemail—I had no idea. So we left for Italy, and not only was I voicemail-less but also Verizon had some kind of international outage. So my phone was on airplane mode a lot.
One day, we were chilling at the dreamy pool at the incredible Hotel Chalet al Foss and my HUSBAND (that’s fun to say!) let me know my infusion center called him because they had consistently been unable to reach me (no voicemail, remember?). I needed to schedule my next infusion medication and supplies delivery.
Did I want to stop reading in the infinity pool in the Alps, take Conor’s phone off airplane mode (and get charged the $10 for an international day), and call the pharmacy to schedule? Not really. It could have waited the extra couple days. BUT, the opportunity to get IBD-related content in the infinity pool in the Alps was too good to pass up! (And, you know, the whole health-maintenance-is-important thing.)
So now I know: schedule my next infusion delivery BEFORE I leave for vacation, even if that means it’s a few weeks in advance. This way the pharmacy doesn’t panic if I’m unreachable and I can continue reading in the infinity pool in the Alps (how many times can I say infinity pool in the Alps? As many times as I need to convince myself this was all REAL LIFE!!).
Thank you to Chalet al Foss (not sponsored) for an incredible honeymoon and the adorable little touches, like the heart on our toilet paper the first day! As someone with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, that extra touch of branding really made me feel right at home!!!
