🚨 Traffic Alert – Road Closure 🚨

Police are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on Victoria Avenue, close to The Kiosk.

The westbound road is closed, and diversions are in place along Rue du Galet and Rue du Nord while emergency services are in attendance.

Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We will provide further updates as information becomes available.

🚨 The PLAB 1 & UKMLA AKT overdose trap? A patient may look well after paracetamol overdose — but liver injury can still be developing.

• Paracetamol overdose is a high-yield toxicology emergency where timing decides the next step.

• Classic clues
– History of excess ingestion or self-harm.
– Often initially asymptomatic.
– Nausea/vomiting may occur.
– Later RUQ pain or jaundice suggests liver injury.
– Delayed presentation or unknown timing is a red flag.

• Key tests
– ABCDE if unwell.
– Confirm time of ingestion and amount taken.
– In a single acute overdose, check paracetamol level at 4 hours.
– Bloods: LFTs, INR, U&E, glucose.
– Consider activated charcoal if within 1 hour.

• Management
– If >8 hours after ingestion, time unknown, or staggered overdose → start IV acetylcysteine immediately.
