2026 AHA/ACC Acute Pulmonary Embolism Categories :
Category- A: Subclinical – incidental and asymptomatic PE
Category-B: Symptomatic PE with low clinical severity score (eg, PESI class I-II, sPESI=0, Hestia=0).
B-1: patients with single or multiple subsegmental Pes.
B-2: patients with segmental and more proximal PEs.
Category- C: Symptomatic PE with elevated clinical severity score (eg, PESI class III-V, sPESI >/=1,Hestia >/=1)
C-1: Normal RV with normal biomarkers
C-2: Abnormal RV or >/=1 Abnormal biomarkers
C-3: Abnormal RV and >/=1 Abnormal biomarkers
Category-D: Incipient cardiopulmonary failure (eg, normotensive shock)
D-1: Transient Hypotension
D-2: Normotensive Shock
Category- E: Cardiopulmonary failure:
E-1: Recurrent / Persistent Shock
E-2: Refractory Shock / CPR
