Today’s breakfast 🥭🥑

This morning I enjoyed a bowl of high-protein yogurt topped with acai powder and beetroot powder, along with fresh papaya—my favorite fruit—and creamy avocado.

I sprinkled just a little sea salt on the avocado. I actually prefer its natural flavor over adding oil.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective:
🥭 Papaya helps support digestion, gently nourishes body fluids, and is especially refreshing during hot weather.

🥑 Avocado provides healthy fats that nourish Yin, support the skin, and help keep the body hydrated.

🫐 Acai is rich in antioxidants that help protect cells from oxidative stress.

❤️ Beetroot supports healthy blood circulation and is naturally rich in nutrients that help maintain energy and vitality.

🥣 High-protein yogurt provides protein for muscle recovery while supporting a healthy gut microbiome.

Every meal is an opportunity to nourish the body from the inside out. ✨🌿

Do you know someone who blames everyone else for everything?

Or someone who always blames women?

Or perhaps someone who says,
“It’s because of my trauma,”
whenever things don’t go their way.

Maybe that person is your partner.

They may tell you,
“I can’t give you what you want.”

But pause for a moment and ask yourself:

What are they actually giving you?

Is there even one healthy thing they consistently bring into your life?

Sometimes the answer is…

Nothing.

They may not offer love, kindness, safety, or accountability.

But they do leave you with something:

Stress. Emotional pain. And a place to unload their own unresolved emotions.

I think of this as emotional dumping.

They unload their anger, frustration, and pain onto someone else…

Then they leave.

When they’re overwhelmed again,

They come back and dump it all over again.

It’s simply a repeating cycle.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that many people who have experienced emotional abuse, verbal abuse, or domestic violence sometimes show certain changes in the appearance of their tongue.

Their tongue may appear bright red with enlarged, strawberry-like papillae, or the tongue coating may become thin, patchy, or peel away.

I’ve also observed similar tongue patterns in some children raised in extremely strict or emotionally harsh environments.

Of course, this is not a diagnosis used in Western medicine.

Rather, this perspective comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Qigong, where tongue observation has been used for centuries as one of the traditional tools for assessing overall health and internal balance.

The tongue alone cannot diagnose emotional trauma or abuse, and many physical conditions can also affect its appearance.

However, it can sometimes be one of the body’s ways of saying,

“I’m under too much stress.”

When we’re emotionally attached or dependent on someone, stepping away isn’t always easy.

The mind may struggle to let go.

But the body often reaches its limit first.

If your tongue has changed, and deep down you know you’ve been living in survival mode…

Please listen to your body’s SOS.

If possible, gently create some distance from the situation.

And if you notice similar changes in your child’s tongue, please pay attention.

Children often carry far more emotional stress than they’re able to express.

Tongue observation is not meant to replace medical care, but it can be a valuable self-care practice that encourages you to pay attention to both your physical and emotional well-being.

There’s a traditional belief that negative emotions are stored in our muscles. Whether that’s scientifically true or not, I think there’s something to it. Muscles are always better when they’re soft and flexible rather than tight and stiff. Every time I move my body, I feel as if the tension and negative emotions are being released along with it. Thinking about it that way, it really reminds me how important it is to keep moving.

PS

Breathing works the same way.

Your breath and your body are deeply connected.

When your breathing changes, the state of your body changes.

And when the state of your body changes, your thoughts begin to change as well.

Trying to change your thoughts with more thinking—using the mind to control the mind—is often the hardest path.

It can leave you feeling even more mentally overwhelmed and disconnected.

Instead, start with the body.

When you calm the breath, the nervous system begins to settle.

As the body finds balance, the mind naturally follows.😊💫💫💫

ohayo ❤️good morning

🩵🐠 BlueMind🩵🐠

For three days, I immersed myself in the ocean, returning again and again to meditation beneath the sea. 🌊

I surrendered to the rhythm of the currents instead of resisting them.

The ocean healed my ears, softened my vision, quieted my mind, and invited me into deep, gentle breaths.

The greatest lessons don’t always come from another person.

So much wisdom lives within nature.

And what nature whispers is often this:

“You already have it.
You’ve always known.”

It gently reminds us of the strength, wisdom, and peace that have always existed within us.

Qigong is the same.

It isn’t about learning something new.

It’s about remembering the ancient wisdom that has been passed down for thousands of years—and awakening what has always been inside you.

I hope you can take a quiet moment to remember the power you’ve forgotten…

…and reconnect with the person you were always meant to be. 🤍

Sending love from Okinawa. 🌺

With love,
Risa 💙

PS
yesterday I was able to keep my eyes open underwater, and it didn’t hurt at all.

It felt absolutely amazing. 🩵🌊👀

A little bit of a scary topic today… 😅

Some people may disagree with what I’m about to say, and that’s okay. But this is something I believe is important to share.

I also use cupping therapy.

It isn’t a stand-alone treatment on my menu, but if a client requests it, I sometimes incorporate gentle cupping, sliding cupping, and stretching into a session.

One thing I intentionally avoid is leaving large, dark cupping marks whenever possible.

Because in many cases, they simply aren’t necessary.

You’ve probably heard people say,

“The darker the mark, the more toxins you had.”

But… is that really true?

Have we actually looked at the scientific evidence?

Current medical research does not support the idea that darker cupping marks mean more “toxins” in the body.

What actually happens is much simpler.

The negative pressure from the cup increases blood flow by expanding tiny blood vessels (capillaries). If the suction is too strong or applied for too long, some of those capillaries can rupture, causing bruising or temporary discoloration.

The color and intensity of the marks are thought to depend on factors such as:
• the amount of suction
• how long the cups stay on
• skin thickness
• the fragility of your capillaries
• and your individual skin condition

There have even been published case reports describing anemia and persistent skin pigmentation after excessive or repeated cupping.

I’m not saying you should never receive cupping.

I use it myself because I believe it can be very beneficial, and I even enjoy doing gentle self-cupping at home.

I simply believe that our skin deserves to be treated with respect.

Especially during summer, when our skin is already dealing with UV exposure, heat, and environmental stress.

Please take good care of your skin. ❤️

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the skin is closely connected with the Lung and Large Intestine systems. From this perspective, caring for the skin is also a way of supporting the body’s natural defensive functions and overall well-being.

Your skin works hard for you every single day.

Let’s protect it.

After all… this is the season when beautiful, healthy skin gets to shine. ☀️🤭
