Stump socks vs stump shrinker?
Many prosthetic users might not know the difference between the two and when to use them but today I'll give you the insights
A stump socks is used by a prosthetic USER to replace the lost/reduced stump volume while using the leg and it comes in different sizes from 1 ply 3 ply and 5 ply sizes. As a prosthetist I would recommend a maximum of 3 5 ply socks to a user, then replace the socket. Too much of them could interfere with air circulation around the stump and you could easily have fungal infection and bad smell when doffing the leg.

Stump shrinker?
This is used by patients post operative to shape the stump, help manage swelling by ensuring enhanced venous return and help controlling phantom pains and sensations awaiting prosthetic fitting.
