Does it feel like you’re walking on a pebble, or experiencing a sharp, burning pain in the ball of your foot? You might be dealing with Morton’s Neuroma.
Morton’s neuroma is a painful condition caused by a thickened nerve—most commonly between the 3rd and 4th toes—usually triggered by repetitive irritation, high pressure, or tight footwear.
Common Symptoms:
Burning pain in the forefoot/ball of the foot
Numbness, tingling, or “pins and needles” radiating into the toes
A sensation like there’s a marble or bunched-up sock under your foot
Management & Relief:
Switching to wide-toed, supportive footwear or medical-grade sandals
Custom orthotic inserts or metatarsal pads to offload nerve pressure
Rest, activity modification, and physical therapy
Early care prevents chronic nerve irritation. If you recognize these symptoms, schedule an assessment with a foot specialist or podiatrist to get back on your feet comfortably.

📸 Image of the Week: Syringomyelia

This sagittal MRI beautifully demonstrates syringomyelia - a fluid-filled cavity (syrinx) extending through the spinal cord! The hyperintense signal on this T2-weighted image reveals the classic tubular appearance of the central canal dilation.
Syringomyelia most commonly occurs secondary to Chiari malformation (look for cerebellar tonsillar herniation), but can also develop after trauma, infection, inflammation, or with spinal tumors. Patients typically present with a cape-like dissociated sensory loss (preserved light touch but impaired pain/temperature sensation), progressive weakness, and autonomic dysfunction.
The pathophysiology involves disrupted CSF flow dynamics, creating pressure gradients that force fluid into the central canal. As the syrinx expands, it damages the crossing spinothalamic tracts first (causing the distinctive sensory pattern), followed by anterior horn cells and eventually corticospinal tracts.
Treatment depends on the underlying cause - posterior fossa decompression for Chiari-associated syrinx, tumor resection if present, or syrinx shunting in selected cases.

What's your approach to differentiating syringomyelia from similar-appearing entities like hydromyelia? Share your diagnostic pearls below!

I used to be like many who think that you need to manage your chronic back pain by:
- Taking pain medications 💊
- Undergoing physical therapy 🥼
- Visiting doctors and chiropractors 🩻
- Using all kinds of devices 🏑
- Having invasive procedures done 🔪

I used to believe that having back pain means that I just need to live with it and avoid activities such as heavy lifting or prolonged sitting…

…I realized I couldn’t be more wrong, when I learned about a simple and logical system that transformed my life.

The source of chronic pain is not where it hurts.

The pain is only a SYMPTOM of a deeper problem 💡

Most importantly, I have regained confidence in my own body.

I started to enjoy playing sports, hiking, and lifting weights again.

I can pick up my kids, fly them around and play with

🦴 Posterior Shoulder Dislocation

(The Easily Missed Injury)

🔹 Why it’s missed:
• Looks subtle on X-rays
• Arm often looks “normal”
• Pain + loss of outward rotation are the main clues

🔹 Key tip:
👉 If you injure your shoulder and can’t rotate your arm outwards, get checked by an Orthopaedic Surgeon!
