Today, on International Day of Play, we recognize that play is a fundamental part of life, growth, and wellbeing.

For women and girls with disabilities, play can be a powerful pathway to confidence, connection, creativity, and inclusion. Yet too many still face barriers such as inaccessible spaces, stigma, and lack of support.

We must create communities where every girl and woman with a disability has the freedom and opportunity to play, participate, and belong.

Inclusive play means everyone matters.
Let us commit to making play spaces safer, more accessible, and more welcoming for all.

Women and girls with disabilities face violence in silence far too often.

Through the Mama Siri program, survivors with disabilities are finally reaching out for support, referrals, and information tailored to their needs. Hearing their voices reminds us that safety must be accessible to everyone.

This month, Mama Siri continues to stand with women and girls with disabilities who are experiencing gender-based violence. Every call made is a step toward protection, dignity, and justice.

If you or someone you know needs help, Mama Siri is ready to listen and connect you to safe services. Call 0800 000 300 or SMS 0799 000 300 to speak to Mama Siri in confidence.

Let’s make sure no one is left behind.

You want to stop using disposable pads and start using reusable cloth pads. It sounds like a good choice for the environment.

But what if opening the package is difficult because of your disability? What if the reusable pad costs more than you can afford? What if the nearest toilet is not accessible, has no privacy, or is hard to use?

This is the reality for many women and girls with disabilities every month.

This World Environment Day, let's remember:

Eco-friendly menstrual products should work for everyone.
And climate solutions should include women with disabilities.

What women and girls with disabilities need:
🟢 Menstrual products designed with women with disabilities in mind.
🟢 Affordable and reusable menstrual products for those who need them.
🟢 Safe, private, and accessible toilets with water and enough space to move around.

Share if you agree: No woman or girl with a disability should have to choose between protecting the environment and managing their period with dignity.

🎙️ 🩸Menstrual Justice A SRHM Podcast conversation with Lizzie Kiama and Tara Mukeku-Cilolo for .

Disability rights advocate Lizzie Kiama of This Ability Trust Kenya and Tara Mukeku-Cilolo of Fòs Feminista joined Eszter Kismodi of SRHM for a special podcast exploring how menstrual health intersects with inequality, disability justice, public policy, and community care.
The discussion highlighted a critical shift in framing. Menstruation is not only about access to products. It is also about bodily autonomy, education, economic participation, healthcare access, and freedom from shame, stigma, and discrimination.

Together for a means making sure every woman and girl, including those with disabilities, can manage her period with dignity.

Around the world, millions still cannot afford pads or reach safe toilets, and girls miss school every month because of their periods. Women and girls with disabilities face even more barriers: shops and toilets that are not accessible, packets they cannot open or read, and caregivers or shopkeepers who treat periods as something shameful.

In Kenya and across our region, many women and girls with disabilities still rely on old rags, stay home from school or work, or avoid public spaces during their periods because products and toilets do not meet their needs.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, we are calling for:

✅Affordable, accessible period products in every community
✅ Disability-friendly toilets and changing spaces in schools, health centres and workplaces
✅Clear, respectful information on menstruation in formats all women and girls can use
