Bone Marrow Aspiration (BMA) is a procedure in which a sample of the fluid portion of the bone marrow (soft tissue inside the bone) is removed using a special needle.

It offers detailed information about the condition of the bone marrow and the blood cells and is usually ordered by doctors in cases where blood tests are abnormal and are not providing enough information to make a diagnosis about a suspected problem.
