One of our own shared their story on Substack, and we are sharing it here too. The story of the day that became clear to them and why it's the reason Mizizi Space exists.

We build the rooms therapy alone can't: corporate psychosocial support, circles inside the groups you already belong to, and guided support cohorts. All rooted in the same belief: healing happens in community.

We started with a clear belief: "Fine" is not a wellness strategy.

We built a mental health, wellness, and community services venture that reflects how Kenyans live, work, and heal, rather than relying on Westernized wellness templates.

Here is how we facilitate real support:

1. Corporate Psychosocial Support

Proactive, on-site facilitation for teams ranging from targeted half-day activations to multi-day resilience intensives. We offer monthly retainers to embed well-being into the organizational rhythm, alongside leadership insight reports to identify systemic pressure points early.

2. Bring Your Circle

Designed for existing communities: the chama navigating financial stress, the church group quietly carrying heavy personal burdens, or the inner circle needing more than a casual WhatsApp check-in. We offer flat-rate group pricing, eliminating individual signup friction so no one hesitates to step into the room.

3. Tiered Support Group Cohorts

Structured, multi-week guided groups for individuals ready to process deeper life transitions, alongside low-barrier 1-day entry events for those stepping into therapy for the first time.

Burnout, isolation, and the quiet weight of "just coping" do not have to be permanent features of Kenyan life.

We wrote more about why local workplaces are struggling with this—and actionable steps HR leaders can take today.

There's something that shifts when you realize you're not the only one.

Perspective you didn't know you needed. Coping tools you pick up simply by hearing how someone else got through their version of your week. And underneath all of it, the relief of not performing "fine" for an hour.

This is why we built ours around structure, not just space. Three formats, depending on where you are:

4-week circles — a focused entry point, ideal if you're new to group support or working through something specific and immediate. Available virtually and in-person.

6-week circles — enough time to build real trust in the group and go a layer deeper than the surface. Available virtually and in-person.

8-week circles — our full arc, for the deeper, slower work, the kind that needs consistency to actually take root. Available virtually and in-person.

Every circle is co-facilitated by a licensed counselor and a certified life coach, kept small by design, so no one is a face in a crowd.

You don't have to wait until you're at breaking point to justify needing support. There is strength in being held, not just in holding it together.

DM us to find out which circle fits where you are right now.

There’s a strange kind of guilt that comes with building something that works.

We built our circles because friends, church, and "the boys" weren't where people were finding real support.

If those spaces aren't where people find help, why are we building next to them instead of walking into them?

The circles stay. They work. But we'd rather be the answer already sitting in the room people are already in than a beautiful space they have to find their way to.

Want us in your circles? If not, you are welcome in ours.

The silence is slowly, bravely being broken because one truth remains clear: You cannot pour from an empty vessel, and you cannot build a lasting legacy from a depleted life.

Healing does not have to happen in isolation. Our 8-Week Group Support & Healing Circle provides a safe, grounded, and confidential space to unpack patterns, restore your emotional energy, and heal alongside a supportive community.

We get asked this a lot: what does a support group even look like here?

Not a lecture hall. Not a one-off workshop you forget by Monday. A small circle — capped, consistent, held by both a licensed counselor and a certified life coach — where for this specific cohort inner child work and childhood trauma healing actually get the weekly repetition they need to move something.

Because most of us were never taught how to sit with the younger version of ourselves who is still waiting to be seen. We just got taught to perform composure and carry on.

If that's speaking to something in you: we have a circle open now for inner child healing and childhood trauma healing. KES 2,000/week.

Your Ikigai isn't always something you discover alone.

Sometimes, you need a place where you can slow down and ask yourself:

What do I actually love?

What am I good at?

What gives me energy?

What quietly drains me?

And sometimes, the hardest part isn't answering those questions.

It’s admitting the answers.

We spend so much of our lives being who people need us to be: the dependable one, the successful one, the strong one, the one who keeps everything together.

There isn't always space to say:

“This is what I really want.”

“This is what I'm struggling with.”

“I don't know what I'm doing anymore.”

“I need support.”

That’s why safe spaces matter.

Sometimes you don't need someone to tell you what your purpose is.

You need somewhere you can let it out, be heard without judgment, and make sense of what you're carrying.

Because clarity doesn't always arrive as an answer.

Sometimes, it begins with a conversation.

What would you write in your Ikigai circles if you were completely honest with yourself?

There is room for that conversation at Mizizi Space.

Investing in your mental health doesn’t always look like a big, dramatic change.

Sometimes, it looks like admitting you’re not okay.
Sometimes, it’s setting the boundary.
Sometimes, it’s resting without explaining yourself.
Sometimes, it’s finally asking for help.

And sometimes, it’s realizing you don’t have to figure everything out alone.

That’s why we created the Mizizi Space Support Group Circle — a safe, confidential space where you can slow down, be heard, learn from others, and navigate life with people who understand.

Because healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation.

Join our Support Group Circle.
Come as you are. Leave with community, perspective, and support.

Armor made sense once. It kept you upright when softness felt unsafe. But armor worn every single day, for decades, doesn't stay armor — it becomes your skin. And skin that's stopped softening doesn't just block out the pain anymore. It blocks out everything. Your hunger. Your tiredness. Your own wants, quiet as they may be.

That's the real cost of "strong women don't cry" — not that you never break down, but that you slowly stop being able to feel much of anything at all.

Being strong was never supposed to mean being unreachable, even to yourself.

If you've spent years being "the strong one," when did you last check what's underneath the armor?

Sometimes the next chapter of our lives isn't blocked by a lack of opportunity.

It's blocked by the stories we keep telling ourselves:

I'm not ready yet.

Maybe later.

What if I fail?

What will people think?

Who am I to do this?

But growth often begins with a quieter question:

What is possible if I give myself permission to explore it?

Take a few minutes today to sit with these questions:

→ Where is there potential in my life that I haven't explored?

→ What have I been afraid to create or begin?

→ What inspires me to act courageously?

→ If I stopped waiting for permission, what would I do first?

Save this reflection for a quiet moment this week, and share it with someone who might need permission to begin.
