It's a fair question.
We've known for decades that breastfeeding gives babies the best nutritional start in life. We know it protects mothers' health, strengthens family bonds, and contributes to healthier communities.
So why are we still talking about it?
Because while we know ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ, not every mother has access to the support she needs to succeed.
A successful breastfeeding journey doesn't depend on determination alone. It depends on timely counselling, supportive healthcare, family encouragement, maternity protection, breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, and policies that put mothers and babies first.
That is why the theme for is
This week isn't about reinventing solutions.
It's about strengthening the proven interventions that help mothers breastfeed successfully and give every child the healthiest possible start in life.
Throughout this week, I'll be sharing evidence-based insights, practical tips, and meaningful conversations around breastfeeding, from the science behind it to the role each of us can play in supporting mothers.
Because breastfeeding is not just a mother's responsibility.
It is a shared commitment to the health of future generations.
Happy World Breastfeeding Week 2026!
