From my heart to yours,
Lately, I've been thinking about cracks. Not the ones in walls… but the ones in us. The cracks life leaves behind.
I've had many of them. Some healed beautifully and eventually closed. Some never completely closed and I've made peace with that because they remind me that I'm human.
And then there are those I was convinced had healed… until life happened. A familiar disappointment. A difficult conversation. A painful memory. Suddenly, the crack opens again. Aaauuucch
For a long time, I thought that meant I hadn't healed. Now I see it differently.
Healing isn't about never hurting again. It's about responding differently when life touches the places that once broke you.
I've also realized that we spend so much energy trying to hide our cracks. We hide our struggles, our disappointments, our mistakes and the parts of our story we're afraid people will judge.
We somehow believe that if people see our broken places, they'll think less of us. But what if our cracks are not signs of failure?
What if they are evidence that we had the courage to love, to trust, to fall, to lose and somehow... to rise again?
When I look back at my life, I can honestly say the woman I am today wasn't shaped by the easy seasons.
She was shaped by the heartbreaks. By the prayers I whispered through tears. By the disappointments that forced me to grow. By the mornings I got out of bed even when I didn't feel like facing the day.
I don't celebrate the pain! But I do honor the woman it helped shape.
So these days, I'm no longer trying to pretend my life has been perfect. I'm learning to embrace every part of my story—the healed places, the scars and even the cracks that occasionally reopen.
Because they all remind me of one thing... I survived! Maybe that's where our light comes from. Not from pretending we've never been broken... But from allowing God to shine through every place He has lovingly restored.
So if you're carrying a few cracks today, don't be ashamed of them. You are not damaged beyond repair. You are beautifully human. And sometimes the brightest light shines through the places we once thought would always remain broken.
Keep shining!
The world doesn't need a perfect version of you. It needs the real you.
