The Green String Network We are a multi-disciplinary team developing healing-centered interventions from evidence-based learni The Green String Network is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

We work throughout East Africa in Kenya, S. Sudan, Ethiopia, and Somalia. We are a social movement working with the Kenyan police and communities to heal social and collective traumas. We use storytelling, art, and embodied practices to help people articulate the traumas they have been through, and recognize how these experiences shape their behavior. Then we use these methods to unlock new ways of thinking, behaving, and feeling, so that they can live more full and peaceful lives as individuals and communities. This healing process is the first and fundamental step towards building peace, wellbeing, and prosperity in the long-term. We exist in the ambiguous space in-between peacebuilding, mental health, and development, drawing on evidence of what works in each of these fields to deliver an approach that is unique. All of this adds up to the process of collective social healing. It is the missing piece that allows us to build the foundations for well-functioning and cohesive institutions, communities, countries. This is what makes peace work.
