Yesterday, the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya joined the family, friends, colleagues, and the wider physiotherapy fraternity in paying our final respects to Mr. Robert Ochola, Senior Physiotherapist at Kenyatta National Hospital.

We are deeply grateful to the many physiotherapists from across the country who travelled to stand in solidarity with the family and to honour a colleague, mentor, and friend whose life and service touched so many. Your presence was a powerful demonstration of the unity, compassion, and strength that define our profession.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant his family strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Today, the CEO of the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya joined family, friends, and professional colleagues in Thogoto, Kiambu County, for the final send-off of the late former Kenya Society of Physiotherapists Secretary General, Peter Mukiri.

Mr. Mukiri's dedication to the physiotherapy profession and his service to the community will be remembered with gratitude and respect. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire physiotherapy fraternity during this difficult time.

May God grant him eternal rest, and may his soul rest in everlasting peace.

The Physiotherapy Council of Kenya exists to protect the public by ensuring that physiotherapy services are delivered safely, ethically and professionally.

Our mandate is to regulate the education, training and practice of physiotherapy in Kenya through:

* Registration and licensing of qualified physiotherapists and physiotherapy facilities.
* Accreditation and inspection of physiotherapy training institutions and clinical training sites.
* Setting and enforcing standards for professional practice and ethical conduct.
* Monitoring compliance with legal and professional requirements.
* Promoting continuous professional development to ensure practitioners remain competent and up to date.
* Investigating complaints and taking appropriate disciplinary action where professional standards are breached.
* Advising the Government and other stakeholders on matters relating to physiotherapy practice and regulation, among other functions.

Regulation is not merely about compliance. It is about safeguarding the public, strengthening the profession, and ensuring that every person who receives physiotherapy care in Kenya can do so with confidence.

It is with profound sadness that we have received the news of the passing of Peter Mukiri, one of Kenya's most distinguished physiotherapists.

He's the immediate former County Chief Physiotherapist, Kiambu County, immediate former Secretary General of the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists (KSP), former Executive Member for the Central Region of KSP, and one time team physiotherapist for the Harambee Stars, among many other leadership and professional roles.

Throughout his career, he made immense contributions to the growth, development, and advancement of the physiotherapy profession in Kenya. He was a passionate leader, mentor, and advocate whose commitment and service touched countless lives and inspired many within the profession.

As we mourn this great loss, we celebrate a life dedicated to service, excellence, and the advancement of physiotherapy. His legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations of physiotherapists.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire physiotherapy fraternity. May God grant you strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Earlier today, the CEO of the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya attended the opening ceremony of the Kenya Society of Physiotherapists Training Seminar on Evidence-Informed Management of Running-Related Injuries at the Kenya Medical Training College, Nairobi Campus.

The seminar, led by internationally renowned expert Prof. Christopher Napier (Canada), brings together physiotherapists to deepen their clinical reasoning, biomechanics knowledge, and evidence-based approaches to managing running-related injuries.

PCK remains committed to supporting Continuous Professional Development initiatives that enhance professional competence, promote evidence-informed practice, and ultimately improve the quality and safety of physiotherapy services across Kenya.

Mr. Ochola's dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to advancing physiotherapy touched countless lives through his service to patients, colleagues, and the profession.
