“Have you ever found yourself explaining your feelings over and over again to someone who still doesn’t seem to hear you?”
Maybe you keep thinking, “Let me explain it differently.”
So you become calmer.
You choose your words carefully.
You become more patient.
You even start changing yourself because you desperately want them to understand where you are coming from.
But let me tell you something.
You should not have to perform emotional gymnastics just to convince someone that your feelings are real.
Yes, healthy relationships require communication. And sometimes people genuinely don't understand us until we explain.
But there comes a point where you have explained, communicated, and expressed yourself clearly.
And if the other person repeatedly dismisses what you feel, the question becomes:
“How long am I going to keep arguing for my own emotional reality?”
Because sometimes, in trying so hard to keep the peace, we start shrinking ourselves.
We stop saying what hurts.
We silence our needs.
We become afraid of having feelings because we don't want another argument.
And slowly, we lose ourselves.
Here is what I want you to remember today:
You can communicate your feelings, but you cannot control another person's willingness to understand them.
Your responsibility is not to force empathy.
Your responsibility is to communicate clearly, set healthy boundaries, and protect your emotional wellbeing.
And sometimes peace begins when you stop trying to convince someone to see what you are experiencing and start asking yourself:
“What do I need to do to take care of myself?”
So, if you have been constantly explaining yourself to someone and still feeling unheard, pause.
You are allowed to step back.
You are allowed to protect your peace.
And you are allowed to work on yourself without abandoning yourself.
If this spoke to something you are going through, don't keep it to yourself.
