Today, we had the privilege of visiting Thika Prison, Men department, where we shared hope, healing and mental health wellness with the inmates courtesy of Justice, Peace, Reconciliation and Creation (JPRC) Team of Town Parish

Together, we are breaking the stigma surrounding mental health , especially Men's mental health, and restoring hope where it is needed most.

Through meaningful conversations, psychosocial support, and mental health awareness, we reaffirmed that every person deserves dignity, compassion and the opportunity to heal, regardless of their circumstances.

Mental Health has no boundaries, and infact Mental health wellness is a right for all. Let us continue building a society that values rehabilitation, emotional healing, and second chances.

Together, we heal minds, restore hope, and transform lives.

ANGER IS A SIGNAL, NOT A SOLUTION

🏷My heart goes to the families, students and communities affected by the recent incidents of students fighting, harassment, abusing one another and even destroying school property.

📝These encounters serve as a reminder that many young people are struggling to manage intense emotions. Anger itself is not the problem; it's how it is expressed that makes the difference.

📎Teenagers face academic pressure, family challenges, peer influence, social media stress and the normal emotional changes of adolescence. Without healthy coping skills, frustration can turn into aggression and violence.

📣What can we do?
📌Teach emotional regulation and conflict resolution from an early age.
📌Create safe spaces where students can talk without fear of judgment.
📌Encourage parents, teachers, and caregivers to listen before reacting.
📌Strengthen school counselling and mental health support services.
📌Promote peer support, kindness, and respect within the school community.
📌Help students recognize warning signs of anger and practice healthy coping strategies such as deep breathing, walking away from conflict, journaling, sports, or talking to a trusted adult.

💡Every student deserves to learn in a safe, supportive environment. Preventing violence is a shared responsibility between schools, families, communities and policymakers. By investing in mental health, emotional intelligence and positive discipline, we can build schools where respect replaces fear and dialogue replaces violence.
. Let's raise emotionally healthy young people, not just academically successful ones..

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

"Becoming a man" is not about age. It is about character. It is about taking responsibility, making wise choices, and having the courage to walk away from anything that destroys your future.

On this International Day Against Drug Abuse, we reflect on a powerful truth echoed in Becoming a Man by Kagondu Jnr: true strength is found in self-mastery. A real man does not surrender his destiny to addiction. He chooses purpose over pleasure, discipline over distraction, and growth over self-destruction.

Through the partnership between Mind Care Africa and MICA Training Institute, we are committed to raising a generation of young people who understand that greatness begins with the choices they make today. By promoting mental wellness, resilience, mentorship, and life skills, we are helping individuals discover their purpose and build lives of impact.

The war against drug abuse is won one decision at a time. One young person choosing hope. One family choosing healing. One community choosing to stand together.

May we continue to raise men and women of character—people who lead with integrity, serve with compassion, and live with purpose.

Your future is too valuable to be traded for a temporary escape. Choose purpose. Choose growth. Choose life.

We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt compassion to the students, families, staff and entire community of Utumishi Girls Academy following the tragic fire incident.

During moments like these, words often feel inadequate in expressing the sorrow and concern we carry for all those affected. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with those who were injured, traumatized, displaced or emotionally affected by this devastating event. We recognize that beyond physical harm, such experiences can leave deep emotional pain, fear, confusion, and distress among students, parents, teachers, and loved ones.

To every student, parent, teacher and loved one experiencing anxiety, shock, grief, or emotional turmoil, please know that you are not alone. Your pain is seen, your fears are understood and your well-being matters deeply. Healing takes time and it is important that we continue to support one another with kindness, patience, and compassion.

As a community, may we stand together in solidarity, offering comfort, emotional support and hope to all affected families.

May healing, peace, and restoration prevail for everyone affected by this tragedy.

About Mindful Monday
✨️
🏷The interview opened with a question drawn from the 📖 : What does it really mean to be strong? What followed was less of a debate and more of a reckoning. The book’s message challenged the familiar script of manhood, one that prizes silence, toughness and self-reliance at all costs. As the discussion unfolded, it became clear how deeply those expectations shape men’s mental health.

🛑When our host Mwikali Mary asked why so many men struggle in silence, there was a brief pause, long enough to let the weight of the question settle. The answer wasn’t polished; it was honest. Men are programmed, preconditioned and taught to cope quietly to perform strength even when they are breaking inside.

📣As the discussion unfolded, viewers shared stories of burden of dealing with mental health issues, the shame of being in such situation and the fear of being judged for speaking up. As a panel we acknowledged the cost of that silence, broken relationships, substance abuse and lives lost too soon. Yet our tone wasn’t hopeless.

✔️The discussion ended with a powerful reminder to all men out there: seeking help is not weakness and men deserve spaces where they can speak without shame. This is a call for safe spaces where men can find healing.

...Heal the Man, Heal the World...

💡Awareness is indeed the genesis of healing and for many watching at home, it wasn’t just a TV discussion, it was permission to begin their own conversation, one which will help us have that honest conversation that will change the narrative on this timely discussion.
