MINISTRY OF HEALTH PROVIDES HEALTH SCREENING SERVICES DURING CPL ST. KITTS LEG
The Ministry of Health, through the Health Promotion Unit, continued its commitment to bringing preventative health services directly to the public by providing health screening and health education services during the St. Kitts leg of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Warner Park.
The Ministry participated during the CPL matches held in St. Kitts on August 27, August 30, September 1 and September 3, 2026, using the popular sporting event as an opportunity to engage cricket fans and promote greater awareness of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Throughout the four match days, patrons were encouraged to take advantage of health screening services, including blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, while receiving information and practical guidance on maintaining healthier lifestyles.
The initiative reflects the Ministry of Health’s continued emphasis on taking health promotion beyond traditional healthcare settings and into spaces where people live, work, and socialize. Large community and sporting events such as the CPL provide valuable opportunities to reach individuals who may not routinely access preventative health screening.
The activity also provided an important opportunity to remind the public about the importance of knowing their numbers and understanding key risk factors associated with NCDs, including hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity.
The final two days of screening, September 1 and 3, coincided with the Ministry’s observance of Caribbean Wellness Month 2026, reinforcing this year’s focus, “Wellness in Action: Small Steps, Big Impact.”
Through this campaign, the Ministry continues to encourage individuals to recognize that small, consistent lifestyle changes including regular health checks, increased physical activity, healthier food choices, adequate rest and reducing harmful health behaviors can have a significant impact on long-term health and well-being.
The Ministry of Health extends appreciation to the Caribbean Premier League and the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots for providing the opportunity to integrate health promotion into one of the region’s premier sporting events. Appreciation is also extended to the healthcare and health promotion personnel who supported the screening activities throughout the St. Kitts leg.
The Ministry remains committed to expanding opportunities for community-based screening, health education and early detection as part of the national response to NCDs and its broader efforts to build a healthier St. Kitts and Nevis.
Know Your Numbers. Know Your Risk. Take Action.

🎀 T***y Tuesday: Know. Notice. Act. 💗💙
The Ministry of Health, through the Health Promotion Unit, successfully observed T***y Tuesday as part of Caribbean Wellness Month 2026, with breast health awareness taking centre stage across St. Kitts.
Throughout the day, our health centres provided breast examinations, giving members of the public an opportunity to take an important step towards early detection. Our team also took the message to the airwaves, using radio discussions and public education to reinforce the importance of breast health for both women and men.
Across workplaces and the wider community, persons joined the campaign by wearing pink and blue, helping us turn awareness into a visible national conversation. 💗💙
Our message remains simple but important:
🎀 Know your normal.
🎀 Notice any changes.
🎀 Act by seeking help promptly.
Thank you to our health-care teams, partners, workplaces and everyone who participated and helped spread the message. Awareness is important, but early action can make the difference.
📸 Here are some highlights from T***y Tuesday!

Your Health Is Your Wealth.

MINISTRY OF HEALTH LAUNCHES CARIBBEAN WELLNESS MONTH 2026
Basseterre, St. Kitts – September 1, 2026 — The Ministry of Health, through the Health Promotion Unit, officially launched Caribbean Wellness Month 2026 on Tuesday, September 1, setting the stage for a month of activities aimed at encouraging healthier choices and greater personal and community responsibility for health and well-being.
This year’s activities are being observed under the theme “Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives: Small Steps, Lasting Change.” The theme emphasizes that improving health does not always require major changes; small, consistent actions can have a meaningful and lasting impact.
The month was officially launched during a special edition of Health Link on ZIZ Radio, introducing the public to the calendar of activities and encouraging individuals, families, schools, workplaces and communities to participate.
Throughout September, the Health Promotion Unit will focus on key areas including physical activity, healthy eating, hydration, breast health, men’s health, mental wellness, healthy ageing, screening and knowing your numbers. Activities will include weekly wellness challenges, radio discussions, an After-Work Workout, Local Food and Healthy Beverage Day, Walk for Your Cause, and a Community Health Fair.
Caribbean Wellness Month is intended to move beyond awareness and encourage action. Whether it is choosing water instead of a sugary beverage, eating more fruits and vegetables, moving more and sitting less, getting screened, knowing your health numbers or paying greater attention to mental and emotional well-being, every positive step counts.
The Ministry of Health encourages the public to follow its social media platforms throughout September for information on upcoming activities and opportunities to participate.
💚 You don’t have to change everything at once—just start with something.
Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives: Small Steps, Lasting Change.

As part of Move More Monday and the ongoing activities for Caribbean Wellness Month 2026, members of the Ministry of Health’s Health Promotion Unit put the message into practice by walking to the Bank of Nevis Limited, Wellington Road Branch, to officially present the Bank with its Caribbean Wellness Month poster.
The poster was received on behalf of the Bank by Ms. Claudelle Allen, Branch Manager, Wellington.
The visit also provided an opportunity to recognize and commend the Bank of Nevis for its own commitment to workplace wellness. For the second consecutive year, the Bank is observing its annual Wellness Month, this year under the theme “Wellness in Action: Small Steps, Big Impact.”
The Ministry of Health applauds the Bank for creating opportunities that encourage its employees to embrace healthier lifestyles and for demonstrating that workplace wellness can be both practical and sustainable.
The initiative strongly complements this year's Caribbean Wellness Month message, “Healthy Communities, Healthy Lives: Small Steps, Lasting Change.” Whether it is walking more, sitting less, making healthier food choices or prioritizing mental and emotional well-being, small actions can contribute to significant improvements in health over time.
💚 The Health Promotion Unit congratulates the Bank of Nevis and encourages other workplaces across St. Kitts and Nevis to put wellness into action.
We walked the message today—now we encourage everyone to keep moving! 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♂️

Support starts with connection: 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲

When emotional pain feels unbearable, knowing someone is listening can save a life. On 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 (𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡), we are reminded that small actions can offer hope to someone in their darkest moment.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐞 𝐁𝐞 𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞?

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬: Pay attention to sudden changes in mood, withdrawal, saying goodbye, or giving away valuable possessions.

𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 & 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲: Asking someone if they are thinking about su***de shows you care and does not increase risk—it opens the door to help.

𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞: If someone is in crisis, stay present and help remove potential means of self-harm.

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩: Connect them with our mental health professionals, hotlines, or trusted community resources.

Su***de is complex, but it is often preceded by deep distress and signs that can be recognized. Creating a safe space for open conversations can make a life-saving difference.

Let’s turn compassion into action. A single conversation can change a narrative.
