Shihwa Medical Center (Chairman Choi Byung-chul) invited 52 nursing students and faculty members from a nursing school affiliated with the Fukuoka Medical Association in Japan on the 4th for a medical and nursing training program in collaboration with the University of Science and Medicine in Hwaseong. The familiarization tour was designed to provide participants with firsthand experience of Korea’s advanced nursing education and patient-centered healthcare system while promoting greater exchange between Korea and Japan in the fields of healthcare and nursing.
The delegation first visited the Department of Nursing at the University of Science and Medicine in Hwaseong, where they toured state-of-the-art training facilities and the educational environment and interacted with current students. They then visited Shihwa Medical Center, where they were introduced to the International Healthcare Center, participated in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training conducted by the nursing education team, and took part in a Q&A session with medical professionals and practicing nurses. These activities provided an opportunity to gain a better understanding of Korea’s clinical environment and healthcare service system.
The participants also toured key facilities, including the dedicated ward for international patients, where they learned about the hospital’s international healthcare system and patient-centered medical services. Through firsthand exposure to Korea’s nursing education and clinical practices, the students gained valuable insights and broadened their understanding of healthcare and nursing in both countries.
Hospital President Kang Seung-il said, “We hope this training program provided Japanese nursing students with a meaningful opportunity to better understand Korea’s healthcare system and nursing education. We will continue to expand our international healthcare network and strengthen global medical cooperation through ongoing exchanges with educational institutions overseas.”
Shihwa Medical Center and the University of Science and Medicine in Hwaseong plan to build on this program by expanding partnerships with overseas educational institutions and further strengthening the foundation for global exchange and international cooperation in healthcare and nursing.
