Why Saying No Feels Wrong
“You do the right thing… and suddenly feel guilty. Why?”
You said no.
You set a boundary.
You protected your energy.
And instead of feeling relief…
you feel bad.
That’s your nervous system talking.
If you grew up needing approval…
or learned that saying no meant rejection…
your body still reacts as if danger is near.
It’s not moral failure.
It’s a survival response.
The more you practice healthy boundaries,
the more your nervous system learns:
“No is safe. Yes is safe. I am safe.”
And guilt?
It slowly melts away.
Saying no isn’t wrong — it’s self-care. Your nervous system just needs to learn it’s safe.
