The Saint Lucia Universal Health Coverage (SLUHC) Project under the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture( Forestry Department) and the Saint Lucia Fire Service conducted a Snakebite Prevention and Treatment Sensitisation Session at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The training was attended by staff of the facility. The intention was to sensitise them on the Snake Species in Saint Lucia and the Proper Safety and Precautionary Measures that should be taken as it is known the BCF is located in a snake prone area. They were also sensitised on the Services offered under SLUHC if bitten by the Fer de Lance.
