Full weightbearing within 8 to 12 weeks and a return to competition in 4 to 6 months: that is the benchmark set by the new 2024 International Foot and Ankle Sports Consensus for elite athletes recovering from Lisfranc injuries.

Built from a Delphi panel of 30 global foot and ankle experts alongside a systematic review of 38 studies, the consensus reports that over 90% of athletes successfully return to play.

Distal femoral coronal and torsional anatomy determines the shape of the dynamic hip-knee-ankle alignment curve through flexion, while proximal tibial anatomy only shifts the curve's position without changing its form, according to a sawbone model analysis of 70 knee morphotypes.

These findings offer a new anatomical rationale for femoral component positioning in kinematically aligned and robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty.

The new ESSKA–ICRS consensus defines when point-of-care cell-based therapy injections are appropriate for knee osteoarthritis, based on 144 clinical scenarios rated by 15 European experts using the RAND/UCLA method.

Appropriateness was highest in patients aged 65 or younger with BMI up to 35 kg/m² and Kellgren-Lawrence grade II-III OA, while adipose-derived therapy also held up in patients aged 66 to 80 under the same BMI and OA grade criteria.

Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty with the ROSA® knee system nearly halved the rate of significant postoperative limb malalignment compared to conventional jig-based surgery (17.9% vs. 38.5% of knees, p = 0.047) in this randomized-controlled trial of 78 knees.

One-year patient-reported outcomes, including the Oxford Knee Score and EQ-5D-5L, were statistically similar between groups, leaving open whether the gain in surgical precision will translate into better long-term implant survival.

In a retrospective cohort of 77 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty, a sensor-guided robotic-assisted protocol achieved the targeted laxity phenotype in 82.5% of knees, compared to only 18.9% with conventional robotic-assisted balancing (p < 0.001).

At 12 months, the sensor-guided group reported lower pain scores and higher functional Knee Society Scores, with no increase in complications. Whether these differences reach the minimal clinically important difference remains unclear.
