40g of protein before sleep?
That’s the number that keeps coming up in sports nutrition research.
The idea is pretty simple: While you sleep, your body is still working. It’s repairing tissue, adapting to training, and getting ready for the next day.
So researchers looked at what happens when active people take protein before bed.
The result: It can give the body amino acids during the night and may support overnight muscle protein synthesis.
Not a replacement for eating enough protein during the day, but an interesting little recovery fact for people who train regularly.
