As someone who is passionate about growing the next generation of physicians, I’m excited to be working on Match Cincinnati, a collaborative effort to help graduating medical students discover everything our city has to offer.

This isn’t just about residency. It’s about finding a place where you can build a career, find community, and truly feel at home.

I’m proud to be partnering with incredible organizations like SNMA, LMSA, ANAMS, and many others to welcome future physicians to Cincinnati.

I was diagnosed with Fall of 2017 after having a Pap smear at a “checkup.” It’s week. This is your favorite reminding to schedule your appointment for a “checkup.”

7 years ago a cancer diagnosis flipped my world upside down and then I had to flip it inside out 🥊

Celebrating 7 years since I had surgery on 12/7/2017 to remove I have been since that day. I am beyond grateful that I made it through years of treatments, surgeries, doctor visits, medical bills, etc.

It’s been quite the journey. I am blessed to say that made it this far. I look forward to taking it further ❤️

“Unwrap Your Joy” is a special event hosted by Dr. Anisa Shomo that aims to help you reconnect with the people, places and things that bring you joy. We will start the session with a discussion about trauma responses that can cause a disconnect from joy. Later, we will work our way toward rediscovering our joy and a newer version of ourselves.

Thankful for November

This November air has layers of grief and disbelief mixed with peace and gratitude. It is hard to believe the amount of things we have to grieve. The Fall presents a time with there is less sunlight and the leaves falling off of trees. So grieving during this time feels heavier. At the same time, we have experience with the Fall. We know that in the Spring, days will become longer and the leaves will return along with the flowers. In this current season, the worst part is being unsure what to expect in the Spring.

We all have experience with trying to find a sense of gratitude, peace, and hope while working through the unknown. We all survived a pandemic. We have all survived many other things as well:
❤️November 2017, I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer
❤️Right before I was diagnosed, I was planning to start a Health and Wellness business
❤️After I had my initial surgery, December 2017, I continued with my plan to start my first business: Dr. Shomo Knows
❤️I started working on creating a sense of peace, purpose, and gratitude while dealing with a tragedy
❤️I used my favorite constructive coping skills: gratitude journal, writing my thoughts, mindfulness activities, focusing on my purpose
❤️The result: I have been at peace, CANCER FREE and grateful for how much I have grown over the past 7 years.
❤️Even with the ebb and flow of leaves falling and flowers blooming. I am standing taller than I ever could have imagined.
❤️And for that I am thankful.
