Training on Dynamic splint Following Flexor and Extensor Tendon Repair Successfully Conducted
A practical training course on Dynamic splint Following Flexor and Extensor Tendon Repair was successfully conducted from April 27–29, 2026 at the Rehabilitation Center, Branch Hospital of the National Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Center (NTORC).
A total of 6 physicians and 10 occupational therapists participated in the training.
The program provided evidence-based knowledge on hand anatomy and function, as well as the principles, indications, applications, and rehabilitation protocols of dynamic orthoses following flexor and extensor tendon repair. Participants also received hands-on skills training in the fabrication and application of dynamic and static orthoses for flexor and extensor tendon injuries and selected hand conditions. This assistive technology training on dynamic orthoses represented an important step forward in advancing the accessibility and quality of post-operative rehabilitation services in hand surgery. The clinical application of dynamic orthotic management following hand surgery is an evidence-based intervention that helps prevent tendon re-rupture and adhesion formation, while facilitating the safe and early restoration of functional movement.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the occupational therapists from Hong Kong and to Ms. Sheila Purves, member of the Hong Kong Rehabilitation Society, for their valuable support and collaboration in organizing and delivering this practical training.
