It was a true blessing and a great joy to welcome Fr Alex Scerri from the Sanctuary Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Valletta; Fr Ivan Scicluna, Provincial of the Franciscan Capuchins; Fr Joseph Grech Attard, Parish Priest; Fr Andrew Zammit from Siggiewi Parish and Fr Laurence Briffa and Fr Mario Borg who regularly support Mount Carmel residents and staff. We were also honoured by the presence of the Confraternity of the Parish of St Mary, Attard; the Confraternity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Ħamrun; altar boys of Maria Bambina Parish, Mellieha; Attard Scout Group, L'Isle Adam Band; Orkestra Żurrieq; and the choirs of Attard Parish and Qrendi Parish. Together, they helped create a beautiful atmosphere of prayer, reverence, and joy as we celebrated our faith, love, and hope. We also thank Fr Maurice Abela and Fr Anton Portelli for their support. Special gratitude goes also to the compères and artists who entertained all those participating in the social event held after the Mass. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this occasion so special.

May Our Lady of Mount Carmel continue to guide us all.

Mount Carmel Hospital burst into celebration as we honoured the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with faith, music, and vibrant community spirit. A heartfelt thank you to Fr Alexander Scerri, Prior of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, assisted by celebrants from the Capuchins and Attard Parish, for a truly uplifting Mass accompanied by a beautiful orchestral ensemble, the Isle Adam Band of Rabat, and the Attard Scouts. The Isle Adam Band toured the wards to bring joy to patients who could not attend the festa, while the Scouts accompanied the procession with pride and dedication. The festa atmosphere lit up our grounds - food stands, popcorn stalls, singing by local talents, patients, and staff - creating moments of pure energy, colour, and togetherness. A huge thank you goes to the Organising Committee for their outstanding work in bringing faith, culture, and celebration together so vibrantly.

STQARRIJA MILL-UFFIĊĊJU TAD-DEPUTAT PRIM MINISTRU U MINISTRU GĦAS-SAĦĦA.

Id-Deputat Prim Ministru Ian Borg iżur l-ivestiment kontienwu fl-Isptar Monte Karmeli
Id-Deputat Prim Ministru u Ministru għas-Saħħa Dr Ian Borg żar l-Isptar Monte Karmeli bħala parti minn għadd ta’ żjarat f’numru ta’ istituzzjonijiet tas-saħħa madwar il-pajjiż kollhu. Matul iż-żjara tiegħu huwa ltaqa’ mal-pazjenti, l-ħaddiema u t-tmexxija tal-isptar sabiex jisma’ mill-qrib l-esperjenza tagħhom inkluż f’ambjent ġdid - hekk kif iż-żewġ swali l-ġodda tal-kura akuta issa qed jilqgħu l-pazjenti.

Id-Deputat Prim Ministru Ian Borg qal, “Stajt nara u nesperjenza flimkien mal-pazjenti, l-impjegati u t-tmexxija ta’ dan l-isptar il-mixja li saret lejn dawn is-swali ġodda, mgħammra bl-aqwa ambjent għal dawk li jkunu hawn għal perjodu qasir sabiex jingħataw il-kura akuta li jeħtieġu. Il-pjanijiet tal-Gvern ikomplu jibnu fuq is-suċċessi ta’ qabel filwaqt li nirrikonoxxu l-isfidi li għad fadal. Inħares ’il quddiem għal aktar investiment, fosthom il-proġett li qed jitnieda fl-Isptar Mater Dei fejn ser jinbnew żewġ swali ġodda tal-psikjatrija.”

Kull waħda mis-swali l-ġodda ġewwa l-isptar Monte Karmeli għandha kapaċità ta’ 23 sodda u hija mfassla biex toffri ambjent modern, sigur u terapewtiku li jkompli jsaħħaħ il-kwalità tal-kura fis-saħħa mentali.

Il-Kap Eżekuttiv tal-Isptar Monte Karmeli, Roseanne Camilleri, tkellmet dwar il-progress li qed isir fil-modernizzazzjoni tal-isptar u l-proġetti li jinsabu għaddejjin biex tkompli titjieb il-kwalità tal-kura offruta lill-pazjenti.

Hija qalet, “Kien ta’ pjaċir kbir għalina li lqajna lid-Deputat Prim Ministru ftit ġimgħat biss wara li ngħata r-responsabbiltà tal-Ministeru għas-Saħħa. Matul iż-żjara ltaqajna mal-impjegati u mal-pazjenti, li lkoll ikkummentaw b’mod pożittiv dwar is-servizz u l-ambjent il-ġdid. Iddiskutejna wkoll il-proġetti li għandna ppjanati, fosthom ir-riġenerazzjoni tas-swali li ġew vakati, li l-fażi tal-ippjanar tagħhom tinsab fi stadju avvanzat. Fiż-żmien li ġej ser nibqgħu naħdmu fuq inizjattivi li jtejbu l-kwalità tal-ħajja tal-pazjenti tagħna.”

Min-naħa tiegħu, iċ-Chairman Kliniku tas-Servizzi tas-Saħħa Mentali, il-Professur Anton Grech, saħaq fuq l-importanza ta’ ambjent modern bħala parti integrali mill-kura tas-saħħa mentali u tenna l-viżjoni li dejjem aktar kura tingħata fil-komunità.
Huwa qal, “Bqajna mexjin ’il quddiem bir-ritmu tad-dinja moderna. Illum kien ta’ pjaċir kbir li rajna dawn is-swali ġodda mimlijin bil-pazjenti, fejn permezz tal-ambjent qed nagħtu kontribut importanti għall-kura tas-saħħa mentali – kura li mhijiex biss mediċina. Dawn is-swali tal-kura akuta huma fost l-isbaħ fl-Ewropa. “
Prof. Anton Grech sostna wkoll dwar viżjoni ħolistika fejn tidħol is-saħħa mentali f’pajjiżna “ Aħna nibqgħu nemmnu wkoll li l-kura fl-isptar għandha tingħata għall-inqas żmien possibbli, filwaqt li nkomplu nsaħħu s-servizzi tas-saħħa mentali fil-komunità permezz ta’ aktar inizjattivi u ftehimiet.”

Today at National Mental Health Services, we are honouring the fathers we work with.

To the proud pet dads 🐾, the mentors, the role models, and all those who play a fatherly role in someone else's life — today, we celebrate you!

We also visited each ward to hand out some treats 😋 as a small token of appreciation to our dear father patients. A huge thank you to our friends at ITS for providing the cupcakes. Our patients loved every bite! 🧁😋

Happy Father's Day, gentlemen! Thank you for all your hard work, both at home and in the workplace. Your dedication, care, and support do not go unnoticed.

Keep up the great work! 👏
