𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆

Anaesthetists are specialist doctors whose expertise extends far beyond the operating theatre. They play a vital role in patient care and safety before, during and after surgery, as well as in intensive care, resuscitation and the management of critically ill patients.

Their responsibilities also include responding to trauma and cardiac emergencies, accompanying critically ill patients during helicopter or ambulance transfers, providing pain relief during labour and anaesthesia for caesarean sections, and managing acute and chronic pain.

At Gozo General Hospital, anaesthetists are integral members of the multidisciplinary team, working closely with nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. Their expertise supports patients throughout their hospital journey, from pre-admission assessment and surgical care to critical care and emergency interventions.

All proceeds will go towards Action For Breast Cancer Foundation Malta and Europa Donna Malta, supporting breast cancer patients and their families.

💊 To mark World Pharmacists Day 2026, our Pharmacy team at Gozo General Hospital took pharmacy into the community.

In line with this year’s theme, “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures,” our hospital pharmacists visited local communities in Nadur, Victoria and Xagħra, giving residents the opportunity to discuss their medicines, raise treatment-related questions and receive practical support.

We were very happy to see such strong engagement throughout the three sessions and, most importantly, to have had the opportunity to support and assist members of our community with their medicines and treatment.

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us and to the Local Councils for their collaboration. We also take this opportunity to recognise and thank our GGH Pharmacy team, not only for making this initiative possible, but for their continued dedication and valuable contribution to patient care throughout the year.

A new chapter in our community garden! 📖

We are delighted to launch the second edition of Fil-Ġnien man-Nanna — a collection of recipes created and shared by the Sow, Grow, Unite Community at Gozo General Hospital.

More than just a recipe book, this publication celebrates community, wellbeing, sustainability and the joy of growing and sharing food together.

The second edition has been made possible thanks to the ongoing collaboration between Gozo General Hospital, GLOBE Malta and Nature Trust-FEE Malta.

Fil-Ġnien man-Nanna is available from the GGH Head Office, against a donation of €5. Every contribution helps support the spirit of community, sustainability and wellbeing behind this initiative 🌿

Today, our staff wore blue in support of the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 and the 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻, standing in solidarity with victims of human trafficking.

This year's campaign shines a light on the growing link between human trafficking and scams, highlighting how criminals exploit vulnerable people through deception.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment to raising awareness, supporting victims, and helping end human trafficking in all its forms.
