They obtained everything from the jungle, without waste:

Henequen: a strong fiber for ropes

Cotton: for sacred garments

Achiote: a natural food and pigment, free of chemicals.

Do you know pibipollo or mukbil?

This dish is a traditional food from Mayas, originally prepar to mark the started of the harvest season. Nowadays, it’s a tradition for celebrating the Day of the Dead, or Hanal Pixán (“food of the souls”).

Today, pib is a way to stayed connect to Maya roots and keep ancestral customs alive. It’s a celebration of life, death, and the continuity of tradition.
