One of those little moments that makes being a paediatric Speech Therapist so special. 🥹🤍

My 7-year-old client told me I didn’t want to see her anymore… 😂

The reason? I had reduced her therapy frequency because she’s doing so well that she doesn’t need to see me as often anymore. 🥹🌷

I explained that seeing me less is actually a GOOD thing — it means she’s making progress! 🥳

Her response?

“But I want to see you.” 🥹😭🤍

Okayyyy, how am I supposed to argue with that? 😂

Sometimes progress looks like new words, longer sentences and better communication.

And sometimes progress looks like needing your therapist a little less. 🌷

Definitely one of the sweetest complaints I’ve received. 😂🤍

People often ask me how I balance it all… 😂

Being a paediatric Speech Therapist isn’t just the therapy sessions.

It’s planning.
It’s writing reports.
It’s coaching parents.
It’s learning new skills.
It’s creating resources.
It’s filming and editing content after work because I genuinely want more families to have access to evidence-based information. 💛

Some days are exhausting.

Some days I question how I’ll get everything done.

But then I remember why I started.

If even one video helps a parent understand their child a little better, every late night is worth it. 🌷

To everyone juggling multiple roles while trying to make a difference… I’m cheering you on too. 🤍

Is your 3–4-year-old meeting their communication milestones? 🌷

By this age, many children are:
✨ Speaking in longer sentences
✨ Asking lots of questions
✨ Talking about their day
✨ Playing with other children
✨ Becoming easier for strangers to understand

Remember, development isn’t just about talking. It’s also about understanding, play, learning, social interaction, and growing independence.

Every child develops at their own pace, but milestones help us know when to celebrate progress, and when it might be time to seek extra support.

💛 If your child isn’t meeting every milestone, don’t panic. Early support can make a big difference.

Wondering what your 2-year-old should be doing? 👀🌷

By 2 years old, communication is so much more than just the number of words your child can say.

We also want to look at:

👂 What does your child understand?
🗣️ How does your child communicate?
🧸 How do they play and connect with others?
🧠 How do they think and learn?
🏃 How are their motor skills developing?

Milestones are not about comparing your child to another child. They help us understand your child’s development, identify areas where they may need more support, and take action early when needed. 🤍

🌷 Shows reduced eye contact or shared engagement
🌷 Pulls your hand, cries, or leads you to what they want
🌷 Can label objects, sing songs, repeat sentences from YouTube, or recite ABCs - but struggles to talk or communicate with you

Does your child repeat songs, phrases, or lines from videos… but struggle to use language flexibly? 🤍

You might hear the same phrase over and over again and wonder:

“Why can they say a whole sentence from a video but struggle to tell me what they want?” 🥺

Some children may process language in larger chunks or phrases, often referred to as Gestalt Language Processing (GLP).

And here’s something important to remember:

✨ Repeated phrases may have meaning.

Instead of focusing only on stopping or correcting the repetition, try to understand what your child may be communicating.

🤍 Look for the meaning behind their words
🤍 Model useful phrases they can use in different situations
🤍 Build on the language they already have
🤍 Reduce constant questioning and pressure to repeat
🤍 Keep communication natural, meaningful and connected to their interests

Sometimes, the words may sound unrelated to us,
but to your child, they may be communicating
something important 🌱

The goal isn’t simply to stop the scripts.

It’s to understand, connect, and help your child develop more flexible ways to communicate 🤍
