We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Officer to join our oncology department. This role offers a great opportunity to gain broad clinical experience in cancer care while working closely with a multidisciplinary team of oncologists,
radiotherapists, and specialists.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care

- Conduct initial assessments, history-taking, and physical examinations for oncology patients
- Closely monitor patients before, during, and after chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Identify and manage common cancer-related symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, fever, and treatment side effects

Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy Support
- Ensure accurate implementation of treatment orders as prescribed by oncologists
- Verify chemotherapy protocols and patient parameters
- Provide prompt management of acute complications (e.g., anaphylaxis, extravasation)

Radiotherapy Coordination
- Assess patient fitness for radiotherapy
- Manage acute radiation side effects (skin reactions, mucositis)
- Liaise with radiation oncologists and therapists to ensure seamless treatment delivery

Diagnostic & Imaging Integration
- Review and interpret blood tests, tumour markers, and imaging results (CT, MRI, PET, nuclear scans)
- Ensure timely ordering and follow-up of investigations
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures, including contrast safety screening

Nuclear Medicine Support
- Assist in patient preparation and monitoring for nuclear imaging
- Ensure radiation safety protocols are strictly followed

Emergency Department Coverage
- Manage oncologic emergencies including febrile neutropenia, spinal cord compression, tumour lysis syndrome, superior vena cava obstruction, hypercalcaemia, and pain crises
- Stabilise general medical emergencies (airway, breathing, circulation)

Understanding Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses strong medicines to destroy cancer cells or stop them from growing and spreading.

How does it help?
✔️ Destroys cancer cells
✔️ Shrinks tumors before surgery or radiation
✔️ Reduces the risk of cancer coming back
✔️ Helps control the spread of cancer

How is it given?
• IV (infusion)
• Oral medication (pills)
• Injection
• Given in cycles (weeks or months)

Side effects vary from person to person, such as:
