Bengkel ini dilaksanakan untuk meneliti sejauh mana aspek ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ diiktiraf dan diterapkan dalam penggubalan dasar berkaitan obesiti di Malaysia.

Dalam konteks ini, ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฒ๐˜ถ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ menjadi sangat penting.

Kerana persoalan sebenar bukan hanya:

* Apa yang berkesan?โ€

Tetapi soalan yang lebih inklusif adalah;
โ€œUntuk siapa ia berkesan?โ€
"Siapa yang masih tertinggal?โ€
"Adakah jurang kesihatan semakin mengecil, atau semakin melebar?โ€

With that, the 2nd National Obesity Scientific Conference has come to a close. Over 2 days, we witnessed a convergence of more than 400 like-minded healthcare and allied healthcare professionals, generating the conversations on obesity in the Malaysian setting, alongside the updates on cutting-edge advances in the field presented by global and regional experts.

We are extremely encouraged with the strong attendance throughout the event, proving that the Malaysian healthcare fraternity is passionate in advancing the agenda of obesity as the Number 1 health issue plaguing our country.

We hope that the sessions have been useful and all the attendees had benefited from the conference. More importantly, we hope that the message spreads far and wide beyond the walls of our conference: that obesity is critical national public health issue, with far-reaching and long-lasting implications. It needs decisive, comprehensive and whole-of-society interventions.

The science is clear: obesity is not the failure of the individual, it is a it is a chronic disease that occurs due to a complex combination of factors. Evidence-based approaches for treatment are well established. We need commitments that ensure the interventions are accessible and sustainable. Let's keep the conversation going and bring this to the wider public consciousness and important stakeholders!

The NOSC organizing committee and MYOS council would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the attendees for the strong show of support throughout the conference. We apologize for any shortcomings and sincerely appreciate any feedback. Official conference photos will be uploaded in due time on the conference website so stay tuned!

We have many more plans lined up and we hope to see you at our future events!

This year, World Obesity Day falls during the season of Ramadhan โ€” a time for reflection and renewed commitment to wellbeing.

More than half of Malaysians are living with overweight or obesity, and the impact is increasingly seen among younger generations.

Obesity is a chronic disease that continues to rise in Malaysia, affecting the health of individuals, families and communities. Addressing obesity requires a comprehensive approach: early prevention, evidence-based treatment, supportive environments for healthy living, and sustained efforts to reduce stigma faced by people living with obesity.

Together, let us take this season as an opportunity to renew our commitment to better health for all.

There are 8 billion reasons to act on obesity, and zero excuses not to. We must all act now and act decisively for our collective future!

World Obesity Day falls on 4 March every year. This year, the theme is: 8 Billion Reasons to Act on Obesity.

Our council members: Dr Nalini Selveindran and Dr Ruben Ramakrishnan joined Astro Awani this morning to discuss the Malaysian situation, with a particular focus on the growing challenge of childhood obesity.

More than half of our population are already overweight or obeseโ€” and our children are not spared. They are our future. If we do not act now, and act decisively, the burden will only escalate.

There are already 8 Billion reasons to act. What are we waiting for?
