Have you ever experienced a 'situationship' before?
Have no clue what that means?
Let me eloborate....
I was speaking to a friend recently, and he mentioned his status quo on his current relationship with his girlfriend. I asked him to expand on what he meant by unconventional.
He replied:
"I don't know how to define my . In front of her friends, I'm the boyfriend. When we're amongst family or relatives, she refers to me as fiancée. And when asked which one of the two titles am I supposed to settle with, she's says it's neither!! Apparently, I'm just a friend with benefits. " 😭
So, in my understanding, this is more like an umbrella term that includes any romantic connection that is or .
In the context of my dear friend, the person he's dating is not his official partner, and neither is he a friend. He's somewhere in the middle, in a more casual relationship with no guard rails, but potentially with a certain intention that's unclear or woolly.
In my time, we called it a "b***y call" or "label free relationship."
To those of you who are looking for a serious, committed bond with a significant other, make sure you don't get into a 'sticky situantionship'.
