Opportunites of Calm

Opportunites of Calm Opportunities of Calm was born out of a mission to take every moment in my life as an opportunity to return to a calm state of mind.

Using meditation as a platform, I work with people to help sharpen the innate Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence leadership skills, which everyone already has. It has become my purpose in life to break down meditation into easy-to-implement practices that anyone can learn. I work with groups and one-on-one, to help people gain a sense of self awareness and to help navigate and manage emotions

that come up in one's life. I see meditation as a natural prescription for the brain; specific meditations are better suited for each emotional challenge a person faces. Reflecting on the transition to 2024, the lesson of embracing a balanced approach to emotions, acknowledging both joy and challenges always remains.

Thankful for my own spiritual awakening 9 years ago, which has opened up my own emotional awareness, I navigated a period of feeling uninspired and demotivated by engaging in honest conversations, particularly with my supportive mom. Expressing to her exactly what I was feeling in that moment. I believe I told her, I was feeling old and ugly 🤣. To which she replied in a laughing voice, “Look at me, I am OLD!”

This led me to explore the concept of moderation, finding solace and inspiration. A little note that I penned on moderation and what it means in my life, right now.

Feeling motivated and inspired, exciting projects are on the horizon. I encourage everyone to embrace the present, stay hopeful, and remember to slow down when the challenges arise. Your intuition will always guide you back to your motivated, content human self.

Day 13 - When you create love you spread love. What a better way to do that than through social media community platforms. Be an inspiration and leave a positive note on your community social platform and spread love. There is no such thing as too much love in the world.

Day 11 - Taking a note out of James Clear's book, Atomic Habits. Small changes lead to bigger changes - if you become 1% better everyday for 1 year, you will end up 37% better than you were at the beginning of the year.

In the book, Atomic Habits, he compares small habit changes to a pilot who veers off by 5 degrees. It may seem like a small amount, but for a pilot this completely changes the destination.

What small change will you make today? Share your one small change with someone that you trust and have that person be your accountability partner to motivate you when you things get tough.

Day 10 - The Biophilia Hypothesis says, since our ancestors evolved in wild settings and relied on the environment for survival, we have an innate drive to connect with nature. This could explain why nature is a proven mood uplifter. (My attempt at a bad joke at the end 😂)

Go on a date, without your phone. I accidently went to a restaurant without my phone. I had my book and notebook with me, and had a lovely time by myself. I felt more clear in my thoughts, a sense of calm and inspired by opening my senses around me. Have you been on a date without your phone?

Day 8 - Bringing out love to the community through Meta meditation.

Next time you are at the grocery store, a restaurant or cafe, silently send well wishes to your server, by reciting the following, "May you be well. May you be hapy. May you be healthy. May you be free from pain. May you live your life with ease."

Meta means offering kindness. By showing kindness to strangers, is a type of empathy. So, the more we choose to send well wishes to strangers, the more we exercises our empathy muscle. By sending silent wishes to 1 person a day, that adds up to a lot of empathy training. Imagine what would happen. It's all within our control, we just have to do the work.

Day 6 - Setting boundaries.

Tune into your body with a mini version of a body scan meditation practice, using only 3 breaths.

With each breath, it’s a reminder to check in to 3 areas of the body, which have the most neurons: the head, gut and heart.

The head represents, thoughts; gut represents, emotions or feelings; and the heart represents your values or intentions.

So next time your asked to do something and your not 100% sure if you are over extending yourself, ask yourself these 3 questions as you check in to these 3 areas of the body:

Head: what thoughts are present right now?
Gut: what emotions am I feeling right now?
Heart: what is most important for me right now?

Let me know if you have tried this and how to works out for you.
