*Evening* *Devotion* : John 5:1–9

Scripture (John 5:8):
"Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.'" (NIV)

After being unable to walk for 38 years, the man at the pool of Bethesda had likely lost hope. When Jesus approached him, He asked a surprising question: "Do you want to get well?" Instead of immediately asking for help, the man explained why he had never been healed. Jesus did not focus on his excuses or his past. He simply spoke with authority, and the man was healed instantly.

This passage reminds us that Jesus sees our deepest needs. We may carry burdens, disappointments, or struggles that seem impossible to overcome. Yet Christ still comes to us with compassion and power. His word has the ability to bring healing, restore hope, and call us into a new beginning.

Sometimes we become so accustomed to our difficulties that we stop expecting change. Jesus invites us to trust Him, even when we cannot see the way forward. His command to " *rise* " is also a call to *faith* , *obedience* , and a *fresh* *start* .

As this day comes to an end, place every worry, regret, and unanswered question into His hands. The same Savior who healed the man at Bethesda is with you tonight. He is able to strengthen you for tomorrow and lead you one step at a time. Amen.

Evening Devotion :

THEME: Remembering Who Provides

Scripture: Deuteronomy 14:22–29

Good evening children of God, we thank the Almighty for his care during the day. As the day comes to a close, this passage invites us to pause and remember where our provision truly comes from. God instructs His people to set aside a tithe v22—not only as an act of obedience, but as a way to **learn reverence**, gratitude, and trust v23. Giving was meant to shape their hearts, not just manage their resources.

What’s striking is that this offering wasn’t joyless or burdensome. It was meant to be shared—celebrated in God’s presence v26—and used to care for those without land or security: the Levite, the foreigner, the orphan, and the widow v29. God’s economy always ties worship to compassion.

As evening settles in, this passage asks us quiet questions:

* Did I recognize God’s provision today?
* Did my life make room for generosity—of time, attention, or care?

We don’t give to earn God’s blessing; we give because we already live within it. Even now, as we rest, God remains our provider.

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank You for all You have given me today—seen and unseen. Teach my heart to trust You more deeply and to hold what I have with open hands. Let my life reflect Your generosity, and may my rest tonight be rooted in Your faithful care. Amen.

Kaanandjokana, to the married couples

I have a question for us to discuss. It's general though

We have a lot of marriages failing, couples divorcing while many couples still live in marriages though those marriages died a long time ago.

My question is:

"What are small things involved which usually the couples don't notice or sometimes ignore that cause love and connection between the two birds (who once loved and connected to each other) to the extent of seeing each other as opponents, no attraction and sometimes start hating each other"? I asked this question because I know, marriages don't die in a day, there is a process.... What are those small things?
